Thanks, Dr. Freud. I'm sure that will calm the next little fuck that walks into a school with a gun that he stole from daddy's gun safe.Gwad said:
The root or closer to the root is focusing our discernment on why people want to harm other people. The way that they executed their desire to hurt other people is closer to a symptom. Creating a more restrictive environment or adding more tools for harm to the mix just creates a more tense environment in the long run.PurpleThrobber said:

Address the known threat and worry about the rest later.
Guns come into schools. Shoot kids. Kids die.
Solve for keeping guns out of schools. Period. Metals detectors, armed guards at entrances. Anal cavity searches. Who the fuck cares? Just keep the guns outside the building.
Perseverating over background checks and constitutional rights and liberty and shit....fuck that. KEEP THE GODDAMNED GUNS OUT OF THE SCHOOLS.
All the intellectual masturbation is secondary noise.
With that line of thinking, let's just disband the TSA and screening devices at all airports.
Remind me again the last plane that got rammed into a building? That problem got solved right quick.

Like I said before this line of thinking is lazy and really reflective of how you choose to spend your time.PurpleThrobber said:

Yes it did. They armed pilots and added more air marshals. No hijackings since then.PurpleThrobber said:

So why protect them at all is your answer? The FBI didn't protect those kids and at least 4 local law enforcement stood by watching and listening.Mosster47 said:
This is really fucking cute until someone has a semi-auto long rifle with high capacity magazines and you have a 9mm with a 4" barrel.Sledog said:
You have one job in a school shooting scenario. Officers are to bypass all the wounded, dying, screaming kids and move as quickly as possible to locate and shoot the bad guy. It's that simple.insinceredawg said:The good guy with a gun.
So a trained cop is too scared to fight back but we expect teachers to be able to stop a mass shooter?
This is what happens when you lower standards. These people need to be weeded out during training but that's not happening. It's not happening because they simply need the bodies. So few of todays younger people can pass a police background check or psych test as well as the polygraph. Most departments are understaffed. Corners are being cut.
That $50k a year (I'm being generous) isn't enough to send me or anyone with a brain into that scenario with no backup.
The guy isn't a pussy or a coward. He didn't want to die. 99% of pussies that talk hard do the same thing when shit goes down. A title and a small salary doesn't make you Die Hard.
Armed guards fall lower on the scale. That's what many proffer.
The weapon is fairly inconsequential. A 4" 9mm will certainly get the job done. Just engaging the bad guy changes the entire dynamic of the situation. These people choose schools so they don't face danger themselves. After all it's a gun free zone. They have given up after being confronted in the past. Getting shot at might be even more convincing.
Sure beats hiding behind some desks and books hoping not to be the next batch offed at the bad guys leisure.
You somehow equate salary to bravery. Our soldiers fight for less than that and the responding deputies probably made less than that. It has nothing to do with money and everything to do with saving lives. Everyday ordinary people often to unbelievable things when in danger and display phenomenal courage such situations.
Telling about you your thoughts are.....
In the case of the officers you have sworn to do these very things. To run toward the gunfire. To help those in danger. It's a dangerous fucking job and they should damn well know that when they sign up. I would rather die trying than to have to live the rest of my life with hat kind of shame. -
