No sling for Ariel here..would love to see him at full strength in the spring. Keith Taylor is a beast and this is the year for Wellington to make his presence felt.
-
I'm surprised Eifler wasn't among the Elite11 for special teams, or maybe he just couldn't make it? Because I only see 9 guys there.pat_hm said:No sling for Ariel here..would love to see him at full strength in the spring. I'm also excited for Taylor. He definitely wasn't quite as prepared mentally as Molden this year, but his ceiling is through the roof. The DB battles the next two years will be interesting. -
At the end year Wellington was playing pretty well
-
I think so too.WeakarmCobra said:At the end year Wellington was playing pretty well
Another guy I’m going to be watching this spring is Myles Rice. If it’s ever going to happen this is the year otherwise I think you would see him selling his couch. Could be a surprise at BUCK. -
I hope so. I haven't done any in-depth study or anything, but frankly, I thought our LB play was very disappointing this year. Bierria missed a LOT of plays, and we didn't really have anybody else stepping up. That's on Gregory to get this sorted out in a hurry. Think Kaho and Tafisi in particular are going to be a big help in two or three years, but that's down the road.WeakarmCobra said:At the end year Wellington was playing pretty well

Unfortunately BBK is unlikely to quit the team, so it will probably be mediocre again this year.
My fantasy is that Ngata and Williams take over SAM with Kaho rotating in, Tevis moves to MIK and DJB rotates in there and WIL is between BBK, Wellington and Eifler.
I think Tevis is a natural MIK, but probably not fast twitch enough to make a great SAM, even though he’s good there.
Our LB recruiting (inside and outside) has been a bad combination of sparse and mediocre. If Wellington and Eifler can take a step forward this year it will do a lot. -
Tevis moving inside would be great. He's not quite twitchy enough to be a great Sam, but at Mike he'd fit a lot better. It makes so much sense it'll never happen and we'll be forced to watch not only Browning for another year but also his defensive equivalent at Mike.Dennis_DeYoung said:

Going into the 2017 I was dooging hard about the LB position because of Azeem/Bierria. I thought it was going to be the best defensive corps we had out of the DL/LB/DBs (or at least tied with DL). Turned out to be the worst. Victor got drunk and fat, and Bierria had a disappointing year. In 2016, it seemed like every game Bierria would have 1 or 2 YUUUGEEE plays that swung momentum. Felt like he had 3 or 4 the entire year last year.
I think the LB play will be quite a bit better this year but that isn't saying much. Luckily, I our DL and DB play should be terrific again to take a little bit of pressure off. -
It's time for some of that legendary Petersen player development to kick in at LB. I think there are bodies there to make a big leap over last year. I forgot about Miles Rice, who Ive never had high hopes for but still represents a relative unknown who could surprise an outsider like me.
Ngata, Eiffler, Wellington, Williams, Tryon and Kaho are guys we need to see more of if there's to be a big step up. I think Kaho is too explosive and just plain good to not be a regular contributer. It's the other guys I just listed who I'm wondering about.

Rice looks a part, now if he could play a fucking damn that would be nice. He had a nice first step in high school, no fucking technique though. I am hoping with Kawasaki demotions he can teach the OLB how to use their hands better.chuck said:It's time for some of that legendary Petersen player development to kick in at LB. Rice fucking sucks you Doogs.
He’s shown nothing and is buried on the depth. Just because he has a big frame and dreads doesn’t mean he looks like a BUCK.
His get off is like a coal powered steam engine train taking off in a pit of molasses and his punch power makes Jake Browning look like Jadaveon Clowney.
We took him because we were desperate. He had a fucking bum wheel and wasn’t highly recruited, but they all look the same to Kwiatkowski so what’s he care? -
Photos that best describe our BUCK recruiting the past few years.Dennis_DeYoung said:Rice fucking sucks you Doogs.

Looks like Skinny is more intelligent than we thought. Who the fuck wouldn’t want to have Spiker, Ozzy and Ngata with Hunter to play catch with? Not to mention Savon and Love out of the backfield. If there’s a defense that can stop that team, give the the trophy now -
