ESPN 710 Took my Call on Coaching Search...

They are answering my Peterson concern. Brock & Danny both like him and think the hire would be received well nationally. They think he would have the desire to win championships.
Brock is hearing rumors on Peterson.

Since pool boy doesn't have the balls to go after an actual big fish I would be ok with Petersen over Nuss. At least we are getting a head coach who will have a talented team and we would be able to Judge him after 1 year if he really is or isn't the guy.

Petersen > Nuss. We can say that at the very least

I have a hard time putting DeRuyter above Petersen, and I like DeRuyter. DeRuyter has been a winner for two seasons. Petersen has been a winner his whole coaching career, has a good record against Pac 12 teams, and has won BCS bowls. I get the fear of the Boise State coaches, and the arrow at Boise seems to be pointing down, but Petersen has been a winner. It's almost like people have gotten sick of him because he has done it so long in the same place.

Dan Hawkins looked like a pretty good coach in 2005

I am probably the most anti-Deruyter on this bored. I would take him over Nuss for sure but I also like Petersen more. I mean if people are going to give Petersen shit for winning in a baby conference how does that not apply to Deruyter as well?RoadDawg55 said:I have a hard time putting DeRuyter above Petersen, and I like DeRuyter. A lot of his wins aren't that impressive either, they had to take the almighty Rutgers to OT to beat them this year. -

I just worry that we are buying Peterson at his top. I think DeRuyter would have more energy and desire. Of course these are the things that the AD has to figure out. Peterson would at least be received very well in local and national circles.RoadDawg55 said:I have a hard time putting DeRuyter above Petersen, and I like DeRuyter. Edit- People from Boise in 2005 were saying Peterson was the guy behind the success and not Hawkins. -

Where does Petersen rank among your coaching candidates if Baldwin is 26th?TierbsHsotBoobs said:

When Hawkins left Boise the knowledgeable fans were NOT unhappy to see him go. They were, however, ecstatic that Petersen was taking over. Petersen was the man at Boise even before he was THE man. Hire Pete if you can get him.SpoonieLuv said:Dan Hawkins looked like a pretty good coach in 2005

Petersen is a fucking home run compared to the dreck we're interviewing.
I'll teeter for Peter -
You got your 15 msecondsof fame u worthles cuuuuunt. Hey I called the sports babe back in the 90's to call Nason Bass the geek of the week for choosing baseball. Wish I had an opportunity to tell everybody I was on the radio. Your the geek of the week

With Peterson can our slogan be comPETE? Since it's so original.

Listening to the podcast. First candidate they brought up, Bo Pelini. UGH

Brock's list
1. Pinkel
2. Franklin
3. Petersen
Oneil's list
1. Petersen
2. Deruyter
3. Franklin
mentioned Ray Horton -
O'Neils list is better. Brock's is kind of a head scratcher. Pinkel's record is really inflated this season because he plays in the shitty part of the SEC and got to avoid playing Bama/Auburn/LSU in the regular season. A&M turned out to be a mediocre team and that is probably their best win.
To me Franklin is Sark, beats who he should, gets a "big win" over an overrated team and gets plungered by the actual contenders in his division. -
cumPETE?

Peterson was the Chip Kelly to Dan Hawkins you have to remember.
Peterson also won two BCS games and has wins over big time opponents while Hawkins didn't.
I think being down on Peterson because Hawkins was a turd is a bit unfair.
I actually would let it play out with Peterson and wouldn't be shocked if he led us to a BCS appearance.
Having said that, he's not coming here. Pool Boy has proven time and time again that he's incapable of closing the deal with a head coach.
