RESULTS: 3rd Annual Jesse Callier Post-Collegiate Impact Ranking

This is just classic confirmation bias.

I gave Mathis a 5 because the raw impact his performance in the Stanford/Oregon games had on the entire season was program changing stuff.
So many things needed to get crossed off the list this year to announce "we're back" and Joe Mathis was the catalyst to a lot of the successes.
We saw how terrible the pass rush was without him. He set the tone on national TV that we carried all the way to the playoff.
Dean Crane as a 2 I don't know, fuck me. -
5 is an elite player at his position for multiple years, to me. Calling Mathis a 5 is an insult to Budda Baker, who was the easiest 5 I've given so far.
-
I'm just happy we do this and we don't have to do it on Dawgman, could you imagine some of the ratings we would have seen? We all have differing opinions, but at least we aren't dumb fucks to that degree. I know most everyone here pays really close attention to our football team, we follow this ridiculousness so closely it is hilarious. But that is why we are here, in our mom's basement, without friends, eating cheetos, downing mexican cokes and caring way too much about all of this.
Sorry, I get emotional late at night. And I've had a lot to drink. -
Mostly from visiting this bored I end up watching Psalm's "highlight" tape every few months or so. And I have to say...it never gets old. Shit just keeps on giving. It's like an old-school classic comedy, everytime you watch it you notice something in there you had missed before.
Watching clip after clip of Psalm being effectively blocked out of the camera's view is so fucking funny. Or the center snaps the ball...3 step drop, Psalm engages the RT just before QB releases the ball. Haha that would be the type of play my parents would include in a highlight tape of me playing pop warner. See? My son's out there. On the field. Just golden. -
@Tequilla I get your point, but King is my baby. He is a 5 in my eyes. I wish we had more players like him on the team.Tequilla said:
King's an all conference caliber player ... for me that is a 4WeakarmCobra said:Also fuck all you bitches that don't think Kevin King is a fucking 5. He was my favorite player on the team. It is a fucking travesty that he was not all conference. Dude covered, played the fucking run and made plays on special teams.
All-American caliber player is how I view a 5 ... he's not quite at that level. -
Who is P-Salm going with for a draft agent? What do you think his self assigned grade is? 3rd rounder?

Complimentary Fucking Publicity!!1!1!
Honestly I have no idea why I didn't give King 4 stars. There's a good chance I was drinking when I filled this out. -
Renfro did a huge solid by leaving to deal with his depression. Good move from the kid. If he stayed, the soft-as-fuck Times would've done further follow ups to the big story they did, talked about safe-spaces for athletes, humanized Renfro, Pete & Hamdan for their off-the-field compassion, and the disconnect and distractions could've rivaled the ridiculousness, phony compassion and BS "integrity" of the Willingham era. Fuck that shit. If you can't play and give it your best, turn in your jersey and go deal with your stuff the right way, without being a distraction. Bumped him at least 2 points for that.

I'm giving this years Tyrone Willingham "Who" Award to Dane Crane.
Congratulations Dane on your prestigious award! -
If you idiots can't see that Lindquist is a 5 star holder, I can't help you.

@FremontTroll
Joe Mathis was not a fucking 1 prior to this year. He started every game of 2015!
This is basically punishing him because people thought he would be good. "HE'S A BUST! ONE!!!!"
What does it matter what people thought he was going to be?
I can see how you might've thought he was a substandard starter and given him a 2, but a 1 is like Dane Crane and Jeff Lindquist. Joe started every fucking game in 2015.
Joe was only a 4 or a 5 for 3 games of his career, though, so I get that part.
But let me repeat: he started every game of 2015. -
He had 6 TFL and 2 sacks in 2015...he was pretty invisible.
You make a good point though if I ranked again I might revise him upward to a 3 but I can't see giving him a 4 or 5. -
Well, yeah. I'm not really arguing for a 4 or 5. And I know he had shit stats last year... I suppose to be fair that was somewhat mitigated by the fact that he played that weird "Evan Hudson" position where you are just supposed to take up space (that position has since been eliminated on our D).FremontTroll said:He had 6 TFL and 2 sacks in 2015...he was pretty invisible.

His whole career, I thought Joe was going to be really good. Last summer I was sexting Coker nonstop about how jazzed I was that he was going to play BUCK... and halfway through the Rutgers game I completely threw in the towel on him and I completely shit on him in my game review.
But just like every other fucking decision I make that was FS, because by the time he played Oregon he was a monster. And then he broke every bone in his lower body or something (shout out to me!) and had to end his career there.
As Donald Trump would say: Sad! -

BUMP!
It is almost here... I'll send out a call to action in the coming weeks for anyone that wants to participate in my favorite offseason event.
Feel free to look at last years results in this thread. -

Hooray. Also my favorite off-season activity.
We're ranking mostly Petersen recruits now if I'm not mistaken? Exciting. I'm just subtracting 1* from all of them right off the too for too much whiteness. -
Yeah this will be the first group of Petersen's class coming through now (not early entrants like last year), and guys that have been with Pete for four years that were recruited by Sark. Really excited to see what the results will show!chuck said:Hooray. Also my favorite off-season activity.

Pointless rankings are one of the things I love most. Put me in.

I would have guessed enchiladas followed closely by air ride suspensions, but pointless rankings was solid third.BlastDoor said:Pointless rankings are one of the things I love most. Put me in.

In hindsight, Van Winkle might deserve a better rating. I don't think any of us were prepared for how bad Vizcaino was this year
-
I'm not a 100% sure what this is, but I've always had a strong feeling that my opinion really matters in all contexts so my interest is piqued.

Fine, I'll make my own rankings! With blackjack and hookers. Actually, forget the rankings...CokeGreaterThanPepsi said:
