I've never been more upset at a sports result than when the Nuggets upset them in May of 1994. That includes Super Bowl 49 (or whatever the Seahawk/Patriot one was) and Super Bowl 40. In hindsight, they probably weren't quite there yet, but the window was wide open with Jordan playing baseball.

I'm not sure that paying McIlvane would have kept Kemp's nose clean (from what Gary was describing in the article pretty sure that that was already in place). And while I understand it from Kemp's POV, the reality is that league rules and whatnot were what they were and there wasn't anything that could be done in the short-term from a contract perspective.

That Kemp dunk was awesome. Man, the NBA is dead to me which is pretty amazing given how into it I was as a kid. I don't know what it will be like when they come back. So much has changed. Still have some of those 8 1/2 x 11 black and whites pictures the guy sold after the games in the area.
