Too many holes on this team now

I didn't think I'd miss Eldrenkamp quite as much as I do. I started to then ponder the holes this team has:
-WR: lack of explosive playmakers: it was bad enough losing Ross to the NFL but Chico's broken ankle took away his most logical replacement. Ahmed has shown flashes as multi-purpose weapon but is a true frosh
-LT: Kirkland wasn't awful and there's a chance that Adams only hyperextended his knee. Until otherwise though, it's a hole.
-LG: hole
-K: hole. If you have two kickers, you really have none
-CB: Miller is out for the season, Murphy is still banged up...thankful for Bryant and Joyner but someone like Kentrell Love will need to step-up (partial hole).
No way they beat Stanford on the road and a 9-3 regular season is looking about right.

Stanford isn't that good. TSILO but LIPO. We still should win the the North.HFNY said:I have been giving myself a mental flogging for thinking that Sosebee was "fine" at LG. He's not fine.

Hope you're right. A bye week will help.

You made a huge list and left off the most gaping hole of them all, Brownsocks. I can't take any list seriously that doesn't have him listed number 1. Christ.
-
If what I heard is true Trey is done. Still hasn't had a MRI yet.
-
I tend to judge knee injury reactions on player reactions ... they tend to know the difference between hyperextending, sprains, and something that tore completely.
I hope I'm wrong by based on what I saw on the face of Trey, I'm not optimistic. -
Holes on the roster as of now:
QB: Browning's a game manager and nothing more
LT: I'm assuming Adams is out for the year ... pressures will focus on the left side in the passing game and our ability to run to our left for all intents and purposes has been significantly compromised ... it's possible that Henry Bainivalu may lose his redshirt ... he is better than Kirkland IMO
LG: Boomer got ran over multiple times against STD University ... it was Nick Harris vs Alabama bad
RG: Harris is really good as a pulling guard in the run game ... that's mitigated now without Trey on the left side ... still not particularly good in pass protection
WRs not named Dante Pettis: Nobody really in a position to stretch the defense which compromises the run game ... desperately need Ty Jones to make a jump in the next 2 weeks
Slot CB: The biggest impact of Jordan Miller's injury isn't at his position as Byron Murphy will come back and we'll be fine there, it's that Murphy coming back would have pushed Myles Bryant off the field and into the depth. As is, teams will continue to take shots at him.
K: Fuck both of them with rusty cheese graters.
-
UW handles stanford.
-
Murphy will be back. Myles Bryant is good but limited. Kirkland is fine too, both this year and last. Hitting the panic button and taking redshirts off a bunch of true frosh is FS and *never* works out. (The true frosh who can contribute right away are rare and reveal themselves earlier than mid-October.)
Browning is the QB, but he can be used much smarter.
The positions that must be addressed (with the upperclassmen onhand) are PK and LG. -
Molden will start at CB before love or dotson do.
-
Close, missed just a few, Ill outline below:
QB: Brownsocks (and every QB we will ever have after him) is mediocre with an OK offensive game plan and coaching but we have Smith so he fucking sucks, We could have deshaun Watson and the QB position would look like shit because our scheme, game planning, and development
RB: Gaskin thinks dancing around like le'veon bell is smart, but it only works if you atleast pretend to play physically. Coleman has regressed and looks to be marketing his cement shoes to the LBs now
OL: Dont worry, i heard next year we have a bumper (buffer?) crop of OL recruits we can miss on, LOL about developing whoever the fuck we have already on the roster
WR: Fuck all of them, pettis is fine but the rest could be replaced by Sigma Nu and no one would be able to tell
LB: Bearia and Azeem both look significantly worse. the fact that BBK is just as good as these fuckers that have been so bad ass is a MAJOR issue. They look slow as shit.
CB: They play well enough but we have a ton of injuries and most of the guys left are midgets, luckily we actually recruit and coach this one position
S: Hardest hitting mother fuckers in a long time but super retarded in coverage, I dont understand why atleast one of them (Rapp, Micintosh, or Turner) havent been moved to LB.
K: send them to russia or north korea and have them walk home
The only position play that has been consistently good is DL and TE.
as an aside: Gains and Vea should both be playing 7-10 pounds lighter IMO -
lol, if we had sdeshaun watson I guarantee we score 14 points. the offensive line was not great but the pass blocking was good enough and a QB with any running threat at all goes for at least 100 given how ASU was defending the QB run.Houhusky said:Close, missed just a few, Ill outline below:

You added to the list and failed by not mentioning Smith.....Swaye said:You made a huge list and left off the most gaping hole of them all, Brownsocks. I can't take any list seriously that doesn't have him listed number 1. Christ.
Shame on you.

Here we go:
Obvious problems at the positions that have been poorly recruited (OL + WR).
A QB who panics, is mentally weak, and displays poor leadership. Not to mention isn't exactly what you'd call physically gifted, which practically eliminates the threat of him as a runner. Ask yourself if Browning has improved since last year? Side note, da fuq happened to Victor?
Injuries, but this happens everywhere, every year (Hi Ivan!), which is why you need depth (see recruiting). That's just football, no excuses there.
An inability to call and execute a good game plan offensively which plays to the strengths of the team. This is on Smith and on Pete for letting Smith continually and constantly do this shit. We've seen it over and over and over. Why weren't we running tempo/hurry-up offensively last night to gas out a depleted ASU defense? Why not take advantage of the ASU CB depth? Why abandon the run (again) so quickly only to have Browning take bad sacks? Why have Lenius on the field at all when you have the TE group that we do?
This really serves to reinforce DDY's notion that football coaches are fucking idiots. In fact, I posit that it's the least FS coaches that win the most. I thought last night was once of Petersen's worst coaching efforts here, especially in the last two years. While I agree that Pete was trying to "get the kickers going" last night, in the dire situation that was last night's game you have to go for six down there in the red zone. A FG does fucking nothing since it's still a two-score game. How the kicking game is that atrocious is beyond me.
We're all half-brains here and right until we're proven wrong -- Smith is fucking awful and if Pete doesn't push his ass out the door then that's on him. It's clear that Smith is holding back the program like Pease and Strausser were, although that's insulting to Strausser since he could obviously coach.
It's likely that TSIO, but quite honestly the game last night exposed all of the warts that were there all along anyway. National narrative only gained more traction last night that we suck and won't be a playoff team. Losing 13-7 to ASU I actually agree with them. But my inner doog thinks Pete lights a fire and figures this shit out. Wins the North, plays USC in the conference title game, and wins that, too.
Fuck everybody else, just win. Losing fucking sucks.

Cool... and the offense and the QB would still look like shit because ASU had already given up over 30 fucking points for 11 games in a row so scoring 14 is still shit tier qualitydhdawg said:

Of course Watson running the offense would result in more points than browning... The point was that the shit coaching, recruiting, and game plan places a cap on how "good" the offense will ever be irregaurdless of the quality of QB play. -

And Cam Newton is the difference between 14-0 and 8-5. Sometimes some of the greatest of all time can cover up deficiencies. For everyone else there is good coaching.dhdawg said:

I tore my ACL and my meniscus in two places several years back. Of course I couldn't see it as it happened, but what happened to Trey certainly reminded me of my injury.RoadDawg55 said:

I think he tore his ACL, at a minimum. Fucking sucks for him and for UW.
