    This. O'Neill was #2 in our farm system but would probably be outside the top 20 in most other farm systems. Jack Z was the most fucking incompetent GM ever when it came to farm system development. Which is funny because that is the reason the Mariners hired him.

    I think Dipoto has actually done a lot more good than bad but the franchise was in such a shit state coming in there is a ton more work to do. Especially with the core of Felix/Cano/Cruz window slowly closing.

    He would be top 10 in any system except the White Sox and top 5 in like 25 systems.

    He's not great but nobody has 20 prospects better than him.

    IMO they are going to greatly regret dealing him, especially for that POS lefty.

    Mostly agree on DiPoto, he's done a good job. This deal wasn't one of them.

    Dipoto has made good trades, but he completely fucked up the Angels farm system before coming to Seattle. The Mariners system now is also garbage.

    He also has one of, if not the worst starting rotations in the American League.

    Some of that's not his fault (Felix and Iwakuma should have been better this year, Smiley should have pitched), but yeah the rotation is absolute shit.

    He's traded away almost anybody worth anything on the farm, but he's managed to put together a pretty good offense on a team that hasn't had one in 15 years and somehow cobbled together an OF from scratch which is pretty amazing.

    I don't love what he's done but it's more good than bad so far.
