    Social Security Act - 1935

    Medicade Act - 1965
Top Rate on Regular Income in 1954 - 92%

Seems like back when America was "Great" the socialism and communism was already here, but still.

Yes it was. All democratic vote purchasing buys for minorities. They couldn't switch them from the republican party so they bought them. Thank Johnson.

Medicare and social security have been robbed so much , mostly by dems, there is not going to be anything for those that actually paid in to after they pay those that never did or are here illegally. More vote buying with our money. I'm against all of it no matter which party does it.

    Plural: Yes. Possessive: No

Plural vs. Possessive "S" Most nouns form the plural by adding -s or -es. For example, boat becomes boats, or hat becomes hats. ... When we want to show that something belongs to somebody or something, we usually add 's to a singular noun, and an apostrophe ' to a plural noun.

    Hope this helps.

    To be fair...

    On the means tested programs:

    Food Stamps - 40% white
    Medicade - 42% white

Granted, whites are 62% of the population and in minorities the percentages of those receiving means tested benefits is higher, but there's an awful lot of poor whites who make up the constituency for these programs. Keep in mind there are a lot more poor white people in raw numbers (i.e., votes) than there are poor black people.

In other words, reparations for indentured servitude aren't cheap.

Democrats were purchasing everyone'svotes with these programs. New Deal and Great Society legislation was only made possible by massive donkey majorities in the Congress in the 1930's and 1960's. Blacks couldn't even vote really in the 1930's and were just barely starting to in the 1960's. White working class made passage of those programs possible. Social Security and Medicare are by far the 2 biggest consumers of our tax dollars on a federal level, and overwhelming majorities of middle class and poor voters (regardless of race) don't want them touched. Even the means tested ones I listed, have YUGE numbers of whites on the rolls; and bear in mind that there are still a lot more poor white voters in the US than black ones in terms of raw numbers.

Look, I loathe seeing a big chuck of my wealth getting transferred to someone else as much as any conservative leaning guy. And I think these programs need massive overhauls to make them more efficient and remove disincentives towards work (e.g., people living off disability in perpetuity). But there is a massive difference between what we have now - i.e., mixed economy with some socialism - vs communism. It's a political impossibility to maintain a democratic and capitalist w/o some compromise with socialism and wealth redistribution. If you don't do that then it's torches, pitchforks, and viva la revolution!

So how big a chunk before revolution and gunfire from those doing the paying? The chunks way too big.

I agree on helping those in need but not 7+ generations living solely on government programs or illegals getting government benefits. The needy is one thing the lazy is quite different. Maybe no voting if your on the dole is the answer. The number on government benefits is reaching the tipping point. The American Republic will endure until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money.

Social Security was never meant for anyone other than those that payed into it and your rate was based on payments in. It was never considered an entitlement until now. How things change. I do notice welfare and food stamps never run out of money.

    Basically without change we're fucked!

Um. Your rate is based on payments into it. And the military never runs out of money either. Why do you endorse $600 billion to the military welfare complex but bitch about $100 billion for food stamps and housing.
