Nowell staying...

First real good news since Hop signed.
-
I'd give Hop about a 8/10 on his start here. Would have been nice to keep Davis too but getting Thybulle to stay and keeping Davis is a solid start.
-
I liked Nowell better than Davis anyway.
-
That's high to me. With all the "he's a great recruiter talk" I expected him to do better than stealing a kid from USF and one from Seattle U. I know it's late in the game but I thought he could pull at least one guy better than that level.CuntWaffle said:I'd give Hop about a 8/10 on his start here. I never thought Thybulle was going anywhere but I agree losing him would have been devastating.
Keeping Nowell is excellent news.
6/10 for me, roughly. -
This is huge news, especially for us keeping future in state talent.

I'm just trying to bait Tommy a bit.dnc said:

Hop isn't done. They have more spots to fill. We lost Davis, Harris, Porter jr and that other kid from Missouri.
-
Could be. Davis was a bad sign, Nowell's a good one. I'm kind of LIPO at this point.pat_hm said:This is huge news, especially for us keeping future in state talent.
I think Kevin Porter is going to be the first real litmus test. -
For sure keeping Nowell is a big get for the program, especially where it stands now. But it seems this is taking it a bit too far. This guy really just isn't good at his job.

Great hard hitting journalism from Dawgman as always... because keeping someone is apparently the same as flipping someone.

I don't get it I thought Budda was going to decide to stay home regardless of who was the coach?Saracen said:For sure keeping Nowell is a big get for the program, especially where it stands now. But it seems this is taking it a bit too far. This guy really just isn't good at his job.
Maybe it is more like McGary who was goimg to commit to Wisconsin, wait no OSU, wait no WSU, oh wait no he was UW all along. -
This is great for UW, I think that Nowell will put up decent numbers next year. This will really help recruiting guys like Kevin Porter Jr and J'Raan Brooks
-
There aren't many players available. We went 2-16 last year. We aren't playing the hire Porter Sr or AAU coach game.dnc said:

I get what you're saying about getting one high impact guy, but next year's class is the real rest. -
This is a puff piece, but it's still a reason to be bullish on Hopkins. Guys are going to work. Setting the culture is much more important than this year's recruiting class.

I agree, that's why I gave him an above average score. I can't score him highly without a good surprise like that, though. He's basically done what reasonable expectations would have been, which is fine. It's nothing to get excited about though.RoadDawg55 said:

I'm hearing Arizona just landed a tremendous crooter, though.
-
I'd like to see him go after the Hepa guy from Jefferson (OR) next year. They also have younger guy named Tsohonis whos for real. But ya Kevin Porter and JRaan need to be top targets.

Building substance in the program is the most important attribute for 2017-2018 ... having a 2018 recruiting class that mirrors what we're trying to do on the court is very important.RoadDawg55 said:This is a puff piece, but it's still a reason to be bullish on Hopkins. I did have a good laugh at the idea of Green being a much improved player ... he's brutal. -
Green could shoot 35% from the field, play merely bad on defense, and be one of the most improved players in the country.Tequilla said:

He was historically bad last year. -
I was taking much improved to mean being an above average P12 player ... just don't see it happening. If he is, that's a lot of reason to have faith in HopRoadDawg55 said:

Reading through the douch-y "Frank Sinatra has a cold" writing it's obvious that Hopkins has a lot of energy, and it's encouraging that he talked about meeting with Peterman. What it didn't say was that he's watching film or working with the coaches on strategy. Lots of energy, but are there any brains?RoadDawg55 said:This is a puff piece, but it's still a reason to be bullish on Hopkins. Guys are going to work. I'm sure he watches some film on the current players and recruits, but for the most part, there probably isn't much of a need for that right now.Intersectional_Dawg said:

There is plenty of time for scouting and strategy. -
Thanks for posting that. Hmmm. Thumbs up. I can't doog for him yet but I like how unstable he is. I mean that in the best of ways.RoadDawg55 said:This is a puff piece, but it's still a reason to be bullish on Hopkins. Guys are going to work. Does anyone know who the 7'3" kid from the East side might be?? I haven't heard of him personally, so I'm assuming he sucks...
