First thing defensively is to have a mindset of NO LAYUPS ... that's obvious to some but clearly missed by Romar and his team the last 5+ years as they gave up back door after back door.
The point I was trying to make is that to a good shooter a mid range shot isn't that different than a layup.
If your defensive strategy as a whole is to wall off the lane to take away layups and force teams to shoot over you with contested jumpers you're going to end up being a pretty damn good defensive team. -
