CBO says

14 million uninsured as a result by the year 2018. People's premium 1/5th higher than they would be without obamacare
I assume the cut in the deficit is a result of the block granting.
Have fun selling this atrocious bill trump

I wonder if that's dynamic scoring. I will say I didn't think it would cut the deficit given all the tax cuts in the bill. Must mean way less subsidies and less people on Medicare. Just another transfer of wealth from the poor to the wealthy. Nice work.

I was told by trump that everyone will be covered costs lower, and medicaid will not be cut.

I fail to recognize the difference between everyone being forced to have health insurance vs the opportunity for everyone to have health insurance. It's a hard distinction for me to make.dhdawg said:I was told by trump that everyone will be covered costs lower, and medicaid will not be cut.

Three truths and one opine:
Obamacare is not financially sustainable and was set up for failure.
Medicare is not financially sustainable given the overwhelming amount of people soon to be eligible for it.
The Republican Congress is an absolute shit show for not having brought anything well thought out to the table as it's replacement.
Medicaid needs to be reduced if we are to ever approach a responsible budget process in the Fed Gov't. -
So people need to actually work for it? What a concept...salemcoog said:

But those that don't work drain the medical system. It's why those who do have health insurance pay $18 for one aspirin.greenblood said:

I agree with some of what you are saying. I understand it's rationale but I don't like the concept of mandating people buy a private product. I would have preferred some sort of 2 tiered system providing basic care to all plus whatever you want to buy yourself.salemcoog said:

-Disagree. Yes it cost money but it was paid for by taxes on the rich, which is the biggest reason by far that republicans oppose it.
The bill would be in much better shape had the risk corridors not been pulled out by rubio in last year's budget.
-medicare will face it's challenges. but like with Social Security changes can be made to improve it's solvency.
-the republicans had no ideas? color me shocked.
-you can make that argument. but the rest of trump's proposals show he has no interest in actually creating a sustainable budget that balances. Also my point was that he made a specific promise not to cut it. he lied

Why do you care? You can either pay the IRS federal penalty or the insurance company premium for not having insurance under Trump / Ryan care. If you are not going to buy health insurance, those are your options.RaceBannon said:How did the CBO score us keeping our doctor and saving 2500 a year?

So 14 million will not be forced by the government to buy something they don't want. This is great news.
-
Do you really think that's how those 14 million see it? Or do you think that the 14 million can't afford insurance anymore and are pissed off? We'll find out in November 2018 at the ballot box.Dude61 said:So 14 million will not be forced by the government to buy something they don't want. This is great news.

No! Great news! Your employer, the federal government (tyfys), won't force you to buy health insurance. Although, If you are in the private sector and don't have company provided health insurance, you will pay an insurer a premium plus a 30% penalty. So, if you are so stupid as to not buy health insurance, you can now pay the insurer instead of the IRS. And doogie will suck you off for the effort.Dude61 said:So 14 million will not be forced by the government to buy something they don't want. This is great news.

it's actually 24 million by 2026. the only reason I didn't say that is because we'll have universal healthcare by that time if these idiots go through with this draconian measure

Then, why aren't you happy? Universal Healthcare is a Communists wet dream. Why not sit back and enjoy it?
