Lots of thought went into that one ... he would have declared a month ago if they would have officially let him.

One loser leaves another loser comes

How can he be the Number 1 pick when he clearly has health issues? Those were entirely legitimate.

Exhibit A why kids should be able to go straight to the draft out of high school.
-

Or at least give the kids the choice to go to the developmental league for a year, kind of like what baseball does with their minor league system. Let teams draft kids out of high school so they can have their draft rights while they spend a year in developmental.dnc said:Exhibit A why kids should be able to go straight to the draft out of high school.

Couple that with allowing kids that weren't drafted out of high school to still sign with a college and I think you're right on.greenblood said:

All that development, wasted.

Given the kid didn't sign an agent. Kids need to know that once they sign an agent, they are shit out of luck.UWhuskytskeet said:

Nobody mentioning that he's not ready for the NBA?
-
The reality is a kid should be able to go pro whenever he wants.
That said, the baseball model would help NCAA basketball. It's a horrible product right now. -
The new rules changes have hurt the game more than the 1 and done rule.RoadDawg55 said:The reality is a kid should be able to go pro whenever he wants.

Fultz could be the rare early pick to actually be a factor on a playoff team. Philly and Minnesota need him badly and aren't far away from being legitimate playoff teams.
If Embiid could ever stay healthy, Philadelphia would be dangerous. Embiid, Simmons, Saric, and Fultz would be a dangerous team. They would probably trade Okafor but he could be good in an Enes Kanter role.
I think with Embiid, they just have to hope he can string a season or two of being healthy. Nobody can handle him.
It's a shame because Embiid would be an all time great if he could stay healthy. By the advanced stats, Philadelphia this year is a 55 win team with him on the floor and one of the worst without.
Boston is another interesting scenario, although Fultz would likely have a lesser role initially with Boston, even after they trade Smart or Bradley.
