I don't want to say I told you so, but who am I kidding of course I want to do exactly that.
I told you guys. -
Reports are that the report is false and no decision has been made
-
Sure glad we're not making any hasty decisions
-
I will hold out hope he's still getting fired.
We still have another 20+ point loss to hopefully help seal the deal. -
Another daWg gets killed for sharing what he was hearing at the time...
-

Meanwhile, #MyDawgs are already halfway to matching shittyass basketballs conference wins by March 4.
-
It would literally be one of the worst moves in history to base your entire mens bball program on one player who will be at the school for 10 months. In the perfect scenario Porter Jr gets UW to the NCAA tourney and maybe wins a game. That is about the best case option based on the teams current roster. That doesn't begin to discuss the coach who can't address the basics of defense.rodmansrage said:its not not over for romar!
If Jenn is serious about her job, she needs to pony up and get someone who will get porter to stay and has his dad on the roster. It's really not that hard of a thing to argue to ANYONE. He has lost 21 fucking games in year 16. -
The only thing that can possibly justify keeping Romar is for Jen to expose her tits at the spring game.rodmansrage said:its not not over for romar!
There is no other consideration worthy of keeping that fucking fuck as coach.
-
I can't believe a high school kid is this important. Has there ever been another major university in a spot like this? This is embarrassing. I hope romar stays, porter comes and he sucks fucking dick. On the court and off. That's what I hope.
-
That sounds like he's gone. If they were planning on keeping him they would say so. If they weren't sure, they could just say nothing. The only reason you come out to contradict a report that he's staying is if he's not staying.rodmansrage said:its not not over for romar!

I had a whole post ready to go this morning since I thought the season was over, but apparently it isn't. Shows how much I pay attention.RoadDawg55 said:I will hold out hope he's still getting fired.

Here's the thing: both the recruits and buyout are the reasons listed as to why Romar will stay, yet Caple said yesterday that if only one of those existed, he would be gone. That suggests that either aren't that important in the first place. If the buyout existed, but the recruits didn't, then the buyout isn't rate limiting. If the recruits existed, but the buyout didn't, then the recruits aren't worth risking the future of the program. So, why is it that, when combined, they become a dealbreaker in the efforts to fire him?
TL;DR - No one knows and everyone is stupid....except for us. We're smart. -
Is the budget an actual reason? I know it is also an excuse from fans wanting to keep Romar, but is 3.5 million that crippling? Cal fired Dykes and hired a new coach and their budget is a lot worse than UW's.
-
No idea. Not only do I not have an idea, but 99% of apologist doogs have no idea, haven't seen the budget, and hasn't seen specifics of Romar's contracts, all of which pertain to the budget excuse. But again, doog confirmation biases just keep amplifying when they bounce them off each other every time.RoadDawg55 said:Is the budget an actual reason? There is the distinct possibility this was floated out to get a feel of response from fans and shit. I kinda doubt it, but that quote from UW is pretty strong in saying they haven't reached a decision and won't until the season is over.dnc said:

The budget thing is interesting, I've heard through the grapevine that UW actually operated in the positive this year with cash flow (Thanks Pete and Football), in February of 2016 they were projecting a $13million deficit, in October they projected $6 million deficit, and now they cleared that and were in the positive.
They do have legitimate budget issues, and are actually trying to figure that shit out, but it really just takes a couple of boosters to say, "we'll write the check". -
Hearsay from an internet message board is good enough for me to connect the dots and assume he's firedCokeGreaterThanPepsi said:

Dude who made $69 Million in the NBA just needs to do it with the condition he is named the next head coach.CokeGreaterThanPepsi said:

Like an annuity. Drop a couple million for several years at a $1.5M+ per.
And keep the wonder child Porter.
Problem solved.

Either we're too poor to get rid of Romar, and Jen needs to be fired for her complete inability to keep our financial heads above water, or we're too stupid to get rid of Romar, in which case Jen definitely needs to be fired.

Roy isn't paying the school to fire his coach.PurpleThrobber said:

And I hope to God we're not hiring Roy.
Terrible idea on multiple levels. -
Great idea to ask someone with one year of basketball experience to take over a collegiate basketball program. So far he's been able to beat high schoolers with arguably the #1 HS in the nation. Real resume building. Here's a news breaker, i'd rather keeper romar than hire Roy. At I know romar will fail the next year or two and it will be over. roy will get another 5 years to be shitty before anyone has the cunt to fire himPurpleThrobber said:

Also, I love Brandon Roy. If they hire him I'm going to have to hate him.
Hard pass.
