@PurpleJ 's post in the CFF forum “Gimme Shelter” (and a few other recent threads) demonstrated to me that we have our fair share passionate rock and roll arguers in this cesspole. I thought it might be fun to do a quick poll to determine the “All Time 10 Most Favorite Rock Recording Artists of Hardcore Husky”.

Rules:
- List your all-time 10 most favorite rock music recording artists in no particular order
- Doesn’t matter if you list a band or solo artist
- Any rock music genre is fair game- e.g., pop rock, metal, death metal, country rock, folk rock, punk, post punk, grunge, etc – but we’ll hold off of now on soul/R&B, country, jazz, hip hop, etc and can hit those ones at a later date.
- 1 week from today I’ll tally up the votes to see which 10 bands/solo artists received the most votes

That said, I’ll do the honors:

- Rolling Stones
- Beatles
- Who
- Led Zeppelin
- Kinks
- Dylan
- Bowie
- Neil Young
- Grateful Dead
- Elvis

Honorable mention: The Band, Byrds, CCR, Talking Heads, Clash, Van Halen (Diamond Dave only), AC DC, Sabbath

I know - I’m pretty boring and favor the more cliché all-time greats.

I assume this list will be weighted? If someone gives a 1 it counts for more than a 10 spot? And yeah, I can respect them for that...I can relate too. Cocaine beats huffing, but sometimes you have no other options. I'm poor.

Not weighted. Each group on your list, gets 1 pt. A week from today I will tally everything up. We'll list the top 10 vote earners in order of total number of votes received. For example, Zeppelin, is in currently in1st place - surprise, surprise - with 5 total votes earned out of 6 responses thus far.

"It's hard" to try and narrow down one's list to 10. The top 2 or 3 are pretty easy but gets very muddy from there.

You could have combined NY and Crazey Horse into 1 and gotten in another vote.

You old geezers should have never given up your LP's. My old man still regrets giving me all his Doors, Elvis, CSN, et al, records. Nothing like having some jazz cigs and letting those records do their thing.

    Your list had Motorhead.

Therefore your list is better than mine.

Get rid of Pink Floyd, NIN, and Bowie. Throw in Rage and System of a Down.

I fucking hate these lists because I really don't know. Having absolute favorite bands, movies, actors, athletes, etc is kind of gay.

So hard to keep it just to 10 ... so I'll try to pick different types of music from different eras (no particular order) ...

    The Beatles
    The Jimi Hendrix Experience
    The Who
    Led Zepellin
    Queen
    David Bowie
    U2
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Pearl Jam
    Foo Fighters

Trying to pick the right genre for bands like The Beach Boys, The Four Seasons, any act associated with Motown, Elton John, or Chicago can be challenging.

I'd be inclined to include the Beach Boys but they just couldn't sustain things post 1966. Motown- i.e., soul, funk, F&B, etc. - is another thread.
