I wish. Isn't there like a 10 year agreement with the current system?

You're saying IT HAS A CONTRACT????2001400ex said:I wish. Isn't there like a 10 year agreement with the current system?

College football has demonstrated great willingness to renegotiate contacts. How long did they stick with the dreck that was the BCS again?DerekJohnson said:

I originally thought that should be the case. but honestly this year proves that 4 teams is enough.
You could make an argument that no playoff would have been sufficient this year, and the BCS last year. 2014 the playoff was definitely needed tho -
You don't need 8 teams vying for the national championship. That's what the regular season is for.
Who wants to hear about which 3-loss team would be in the playoffs? Colorado or Florida State or Louisville or Auburn or Wisconsin? All those teams had opportunities against playoff teams and lost. -
The solution is simple... just go to an actual +1 game.
The big 5 have their bowl tie-ins for their champion (so the conf championship means something), then get your 3 at large teams based on committee ranking and play the four major bowls. This year it would be like this:
ROSE (P10 v B10): UW vs. PSU (4-5)
ORANGE (ACC v BXII): CLEM vs. OKLA (2-7)
SUGAR (SEC v AL1): BAMA vs. tOSU (1-3)
COTTON (AL2 v AL3): MICH vs. USC (6-9)
(would be a stipulation that the higher seed team is 'in' and can't play a team they've already played as that part of the 'playoff' has already been performed)
Then, following the new year's day awesome bowl games with traditions like throwing oranges or holding roses, you have the committee that did the first ranking simply re-rank after they see each team vs. a good OOC opponent.
So now, the traditions mean something, the conference championships mean something and we have one more really good piece of data before the final rankings. Basically just the way it is now, except for you preserve all the good shit about college football and get rid of this fuckery that de-values the conference games, ruins the bowl traditions and basically fucks the whole first month of college football.
Play the natty 2 weeks after J1 so people have time to book flights and shit as well.
If you are going to have a poll decide things (which is the only real way CFB will ever be decided and keep the bowls), let's not fuck up the whole fucking season (as has happened this time) for that.
Also, after a win in the Rose Bowl, if we get left out: fuck it. It's not that bad, you go out on a high note. And if we lose the Rose, then we didn't deserve a shot at Bama anyway. -
I like 8 teams if we are talking just post season in a vacuum. The more you expand the playoff the less anyone cares about the regular season.
Does anyone ever watch college basketball before March anymore?
It would also depend on how they selected the eight teams. If they just picked the best eight then a game like tOSU vs Mich means very little as you know they are both going. On the other hand if it were the five conference champions, the best group of five, and two best remaining the regular season could still have some sizzle. -
Just make conference titles count ... fuck expanding. You don't win your conference GTFO
-
I would have on campus quarterfinals in that scenario before bowl season. Reward the 4 best conf. Champs
-
I like that idea because it preserves the bowls, but who the fuck is going to drop $10k a year to travel to the conference championship plus three additional bowl games? Realistically the first round should be played at the higher-ranked team's home field. PSU @ UW would sell out in a second. They could play this weekend then play the semifinals on New Year's Day/Eve like they always have. Three weeks to prepare is still plenty of time.Dennis_DeYoung said:The solution is simple... just go to an actual +1 game.
