Brownshorts threw a pick-6.

To his credit, he was visibly dismayed after the play - he knew he had no business completing thatTTJ said:To John Ross. There is no other way to describe that abortion of a scoring play.
I like that he seems to know when he's fucked up on plays -
If anything, Browning's pants shitting in the last third-to-half of the season is very promising for this program. We don't need to rely on him to win games, and are a complete team all across the board. Too many programs come and go on a year-to-year basis because they have hot seasons where the QB carried them, and then they eat shit once that guy leaves. That's not us. Browning is very good, but he's not a rare talent that seasons are built around. We're going to be great with him and we're going to be great once he leaves.

Agree all. UW is in great shape, as long as Smiff doesn't try to force Brownshorts into being something he's not.GreenRiverGatorz said:If anything, Browning's pants shitting in the last third-to-half of the season is very promising for this program. So now we're complimenting him for having an expression when fucking up?DoubleJDawg said:

The best part about that play is that ChrisPetersenWow.gif will probably be a thing for awhile.

That was just a tremendous play by Ross.
I went from having an aneurism to having a boner in 2 seconds. -

Recognizing you fucked up means you know you need to continue to improve. Under Sark everyone would have celebrated that (I can see just Sark chest bumping the players coming off the field after the play)Passion said:
Having said that, I would like to know why he has regressed a bit the last month or so -

Cause other teams learned from USC that you need to get in Browning's face. Teams like Cal and WSU don't have the secondary to pressure our receivers so he could throw a ton against them. If last nights game was against a shitty defense he would have lit them up too.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Browning and I think he has great vision of the field. But many of his explosive plays he under threw the receiver. Or the receiver was completely wide open.
Let's also not forget that last night we had the most dropped passes of any game this year. Ross went all Kearse on us.
I'm hoping with a month to prepare, we can devise a better scheme to get receivers open against a great defensive line and secondary. -

Saban will learn a lot from SC and CU.2001400ex said:

He will blitz like hell every down. -
It was a horrible play call.
It's really simple. Against good defenses, we need to run the ball and wear them out.The OL is better at run blocking. We have two really good RB's. We have a great defense. Our WR's sans Ross do not get the separation against good defenses like they do vs the shit ones.
If we keep it simple, we are as good as anyone. If Browning and the passing game is clicking, do what you have all season. If not, run the ball and take the pressure off him. -
Bama actually turns that one into a pick 6.
IMO -
Disagree. Bama gets to Jake sooner and gets the sack.PurpleJ said:Bama actually turns that one into a pick 6.

Maybe the fumble 6, definitely not a pick 6.

This. Lost in the mesmerizing play by Ross was that on 1st and 10 on the edge of FG position Babushka called a slow developing set up screen play that was almost sack/fumbled and then intercepted.RoadDawg55 said:It was a horrible play call.

That's the kind of bullshit play that killed us against SC. Next thing you know you're behind the sticks and needing to throw, Browning can't find anyone open and is shitting his pants with pressure, long field goal blocked.
Maybe I need to gain perspective because 12-1 and Pac-12 champs, but that game was identically called like SC except for Colorado sucks. You can't leave points off the board against the elite.
I'm still Doogin', but Babushka has me seeing red.

Disagree. Last night, UW decided to pound the rock in the second half, and they wore CU down doing it. In the SC game, we tried to get it all in one play in the second half, and never committed to the run. Last night, not only did Smith commit to the run, he pounded the rock inside and let Gaskin and Coleman bash in their faces.Doogles said:

I'm pretty sure if he'd done that against SC, we'd have had a much better chance at winning that game. Instead, Jake was heaving wobbly ducks against one of the best backfields in the Pac 12.
I was talking so much shit about Smith in the first half. In the second half, I found my anger subsiding and being replaced with a raging hard'n once we kept the running game going. 70 % rushing makes me happy, especially when they're peeling off 5 ypc. I had to walk back my shit talking after that second half of football.

I see what you're saying, but Babushka stuck to the run after the game was blown open and he felt comfortable with it. When it still mattered he got cute as fuck. He did give Coleman the ball more than two times. Colorado was just getting steam rolled.dflea said:

The numbers get skewed overall when you have incredible drives like the one in the 4th. Having to kick a field goal because you were trying to get Ross and Browning the record is JSFS.
Also, the Pass, Run, Pass 3 and out kills us too often. Very predictable. -
If UW has an Achilles heel, you found it.TTJ said: -
If Smiff had an epiphany last night, realizing UW is an equally good or better running team than passing team, and he should embrace and favor the run over the pass, then great. But I seriously doubt it. When his chips are the least bit down, he favors the pass over the run, usually more complicated (he thinks "deceptive") than they need to be, given the talent he has on the field.
Last night was better, especially in the 2nd half, but there's still too much lateral running and passing that doesn't keep the opposing D honest, but instead fires them up and telegraphs a behind the LOS pass or lateral run is coming. If he knocks that shit off, and develops the precision short and mid range passing game, which is Jake's strength and a viable option because of our running game, he'll be way better off. Feels like I've waited a lifetime to see him balance the O to keep opposing Ds honest, meanwhile failing his players with unnecessarily complicated offensive plays they can't execute well. 40 yd bombs, anyone? -
Fuck Smith FS I still hate that dude.
