Blocks can be overrated, but don't be so stuck on the surface to not realize what blocks do to the other team.

Agreed, but all the great shot blocking numbers at UW have come at the expense of selling out for a block every play and giving up easy buckets the majority of the time.

Brockman didn't block many shots, but he was a force on the boards and played physical in the paint. Much more impact than a 6'11" toothpick swatting at your layups.

Big difference of what is in the lane at UW right now vs when Upshaw was there. Upshaw was a force which altered shots even without blocking the ball or made people think of going into the key. Nothing at UW is altering shots or scaring players in the lane at this point.
Obviously by giving up 98 to yale and 103 to western nothing is scaring teams in the lane. UW used to be very good with no players on the floor over 6'8" b/c they played tough defense in great positions.
Can uw be good at baseball? The sonics leaving town and washington being embarrassing have killed about 2 generations worth of fans and potential talent. It's time to get real. Our kids need a better sport to follow and possibly play one day. You don't do that here, anymore.
