    @ThomasFremont

At what point are you going to talk about the things that UW did right in the first game?

I'm discrediting Oregon because their defense will prove to not be championship quality. Again, that's my opinion and you can disagree with it.

HOWEVER, to look at teams from last year and say that that's the case for the following year is insanely FS. Cal lost the #1 pick in the draft at QB, all of their WRs, and their defense is charmin soft. Utah lost the balance of their entire offense from last year. ASU is very mediocre and lost a ton of pieces on both sides of the ball. So yes, I'm discrediting them from the National picture.

I'm not dooging out at all about the UW performance against Rutgers. They won easily against an overmatched opponent. That's what they're supposed to do. Let's see what they do against Arizona before we even think of either crowning them or claiming that they fucking suck.

It's not that they didn't do some things right. Obviously they won, and are much better than Rutgers. I never said they sucked. I said you were an idiot for putting them into the playoff picture after beating Rutgers.

11-1 with this schedule does not get into the playoff unless every other team has 2+ losses. OOC is fucking trash, and so is the conference. You just made the case for me that all those teams except for Stanford are bad.

Including UW in any playoff scenario based on this game is doog 101.

Listing UW as a playoff contender after beating Rutgers is as doog as it gets. Especially if you omit all the other 1-0 teams.

7 PAC teams are 1-0 ... 4 in the North and 3 in the South

Starting with the South, none of them are going to run the table ... you are looking at arguably the bottom half of the South being undefeated. Utah's offensive problems will likely earn them a loss to BYU on Saturday.

Cal's not a legit threat to be a playoff contender ... a bowl game will be good for them and they will lose this weekend to San Diego St. Oregon's defensive issues put me in a position where I do not expect them to be a serious threat ... I will reconsider that position if they go to Nebraska, win, and look good doing so.

That leaves Stanford and UW ... both ranked high enough with expectations that COULD put them in a position if they handle their business .... UW's schedule is SIGNIFICANTLY more manageable than Stanford's
I like to dismiss other teams for their weaknesses while ignoring our own.

    I like to do that.
UW was a preseason Top 15 team ... only Stanford was rated higher. Of the other undefeated teams in the conference, only Oregon was ranked.

If you want to criticize me for my dismissing of Oregon that's one thing ... but to act like Cal, Colorado, ASU, or Utah are going to go 11-1 is FS.
So when Oregon wins number 13, you won't be butthurt though, right?

A prediction: Utah will lose to BYU Saturday. And still win the South.

The Selection Committee has long stated that they do not favor 2 teams from the same conference making it into the Final Four ...

I'm not saying that UW is a Top 4 team at this point ... what I am saying is that of the teams that could make it to the Final Four out of the PAC, the only 2 realistic candidates that I see are Stanford and UW.

It's not that hard to understand.

Personally, I don't think that the PAC will be in the Final Four this year.

My takeaway from watching 5 minutes of the game. Browning sucks. He threw what should have been a pick 6 in that time but the defender plays for Rutgers so he sucked more.

It's far too early for UW to be considered a true contender for the PAC-12 title. Husky Football is like premature ejaculation: A lot of early excitement, followed by a disappointing finish.
    Sounds like you care

@ThomasFremont is on to something IMO

Preseason rankings are worthless, fuck off.
    So true.

    Dismissing Oregon is FS.
I think—overall—they are clearly experiencing an erosion, but for us? they will beat us until proven otherwise.

The fact that you did it while touting the importance of preseason rankings just makes you a biased doog.
We're all biased doogs, some are just more bitter than others.

Of the 6 other teams left undefeated, all but CU beat UW last year.
FFS - this is one of the huge hurdles this year. We've beaten like 2-3 Pac-12 teams with winning conference records in the past 5 years.

    UW beat Rutgers.
This cannot be overstated. Rutgers was garbage.

Against a REAL defense, Browning throws 3 picks, not just 1.
EXACTLY. Jake has talents, but we? are being too black/white about Jake's game. He's good at some things (he has the potential to be great at those things), but at others he's mediocre, below average and bad.

Jake is a pre-snap and mid-range accuracy Heisman candidate. He obviously understands the game, how to get us into things that make sense, take advantages of mismatches and throw accurate, catchable balls.

But there is a lot of mediocre when it comes to Jake:
    1) He's careless with the ball (should've had 3 picks and even the 1 was inexcusable).
    2) Brain-lock city. Any time he crosses the opponents thirty he starts pressing and takes us from easy field goals to quick punts (we aren't getting TDs that often from inside the red-zone).
    3) His brain lock has led to happy feet. He's a bit Keith Price-y in that he doesn't want to just step up and sling that shit. His eyes go around him (not downfield) and he generally panics under pressure (none of this is aided by Pete's Sark-esque OL-blaming and Jakey ass kissing; otherwise uncharacteristic for Pete).
    4) His arm strength is a C-. His bubble screens and tunnel screens take forever, so half our offense doesn't make sense on 'getting it out to the WRs quickly and let them 'have it in space'.
    5) His deep balls will be easy adjustment for defenses to adjust to. They are long lobs, so spy-safeties will take that all away (I suspect we'll end up with some ridiculously dumb INTs because of it); now that may open up the running game more (which would be great), but it's not like all season we are just going to be lobbing rainbows to Ross.

    Back to @ThomasFremont -

Offense leaves 10 points on the field in the first, which feels like no big deal when you are up big (you mean like the ASU game ;) ???) against a bad team.
Nail on the fucking head here. We just don't convert. We were 10th in red zone TD% last year in the Pac-12 (and 11th overall).

Run game got very little push. Maybe Rutgers keyed on that, but the inability to open bigger holes for Gaskin against fucking Rutgers doesn't bode well for conference play.
It was fucking Rutgers. Get push. The problem here is that we don't 'run an offense' we 'run plays' and so we don't just KISS and cram Gaskin up your ass like we should. We are way too cutesy in the run game.

The cutesy shit like the Baker sweep and the Wildcat needs to fuck off. I have a feeling Smith is gonna stick with it and it will be this year's Lindy Package. But HOW is Petersen a fucktard for hiring that retard?
Nail on fucking head. Too fucking cutesy. The problem is we don't run gadgets OFF our main offense, gadgets are an equal part of our main offense.

But go ahead and book your natty tickets...CHRIST.
Having said all that, here's where I Doog out a bit: If god could've invented a situation for us to iron out all these issues, this is the right one. We are playing weak teams, sorting playing time, seeing what works, what doesn't, putting a ton on tape, making teams defend more than we have installed, etc.

I could envision a scenario (like year 1 for the D), where the O goes through a lot of permutations with a sense of urgency and has a serious ramp-up game to get over one hump (Zona) that is semi-manageable, then another (Stanford at home) that is bigger, but will almost certainly be a fucking big time game.

If we can beat Zona @Zona our confidence will be sky high and I think our D will do well against Stanford. Our O can do well also. We can beat them with a loud WASHINGTON crowd.

    After that, who knows?

If this team's confidence catches up with it's potential, we could win a lot of games this year. Not necessarily because we are great, but because our schedule lines up perfectly in a shitty Pac-12 year.

    Meek's Thoughts...

Pre-Season Scrimmage #1 If a tree falls in the forest and nobody's there, does it make a sound?

Jen Cohen's best sales team in Murica can't be blamed on her...she's only been there 17 fucking years. #NeedsMoreTim

    Defense is Dirty Good

blah blah fucking blah with stats. Yours eyes are as good as mine, so I don't need to bore you with data. Loved seeing the anger in our? guys' eyes.

    Bits n Bites

If I see Lindy on the field on more fucking time I'm going to rip the fucking wires out of my Samsung 75" Ultra HD SmartTV and quit following this fucking team.

Pettis, thankfully, showed up for the game. Austin Joyner is almost as fast as Ross, but he gets hurt whenever there's contact...he won't last the season. Probably no warning, just gone.

I probably enjoyed watching Browne suck and Banner suck more than I should have.

    COUGS

    Did not watch.

Interesting fact: I was way too drunk to go back and put this on my DVR by the time I got through all the good games.
