The Cleveland Indians have a much more offensive mascot/logo, but Redskins is an offensive name. It was interesting to see all the Illinois fans in Chicago clinging to their Chief Illiniwek thing. I thought their continuing use of the "indian dance" (or whatever the fuck you want to call it) was probably the most offensive use of native american history/tradition I've seen yet. It was pure b.s. and was/is clearly a mockery by any modern standard. Of course, many like to ignore the fact that there are schools like FSU and UND that have figured out how to have a harmonious relationship with local tribes and represent them positively. It seems to me that the reasonable view is to look at the context, but that's always too difficult for most...
