See what happens when you elect a woman to do a man's job.

Brazilians should stick to what their good at - sex, waxing and soccer.

And kidnapping people. They are pretty good at that, too.

No, I really don't remember that.

Seriously. I think he mixed up Brazil with Venezuela. Remember when the US used to teach geography?

President Dilma Rousseff of the leftist Workers’ Party began her second term in January 2015. A recession, fiscal and monetary belt-tightening, and a far-reaching kickback scheme involving her party and the state-controlled Petróleo Brasileiro oil company sent her approval rating plummeting. Brazil has poor public services, antiquated and insufficient infrastructure, and high tax rates. In recent years, inflation has surged again. Growth is sluggish, but Brazil’s “Bolsa Família” conditional cash transfer program for the poor has won support in some sectors. Brazil is the world’s seventh-largest economy, and its population of almost 200 million is heavily concentrated on the Atlantic coast. Since the advent of the monetary “real plan” in the 1990s and the end of hyperinflation, the poverty rate has dropped, but heavy government intervention in the economy continues to limit development.

There was some talk that Lula was going to deliver on the promise of Chavez's socialist ideals, without the thuggery and bread lines. It wasn't highly touted, but it was out there.

Of course it didn't happen because...it never does.

Remember when Brazil was a military dictatorship?

It's telling that the guys leading the impeachment drive are more individually corrupt than Roussef. Has she done a good job? No. Is she Lula's fall guy? Totally.

We would include a mandate in our proposal–not a mandate on employers, but a mandate on heads of households–to obtain at least a basic package of health insurance for themselves and their families. That would have to include, by federal law, a catastrophic provision in the form of a stop loss for a family’s total health outlays. It would have to include all members of the family, and it might also include certain very specific services, such as preventive care, well baby visits, and other items.

remember when Brazil was touted as a socialist Mecca

No. When was this and who was saying it? I haven't heard of Brazil described as socialist before. Are you confusing it with another country?

This doesn't answer the question posters are asking you. When was this the case... "remember when Brazil was touted as a socialist Mecca"

Like I posted above, it wasn't touted the way in was in Venezuela earlier on, but Lula was expected to be a champion of the poor. He was elected as the candidate of the Worker's Party which is, shockingly, fairly socialist in ideology.

Here is a piece about it from 2009:
    http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/brazil-s-president-lula-father-of-the-poor-has-triggered-economic-miracle-a-662917.html

But Googling is difficult, I realize.

    Two points/questions:

    1. How is any of what you just wrote the same as this "remember when Brazil was touted as a socialist Mecca". So again, when was it "touted" as a "Mecca" and who was doing the touting?

    2. Is this your other handle?

I googled "remember when Brazil was touted as a socialist Mecca".

The top result was this thread.

The ball is in your court.

When was Brazil ever considered by anybody to be a socialist Mecca?

That short wiki page doesn't call Brazil a socialist "mecca" -- or suggest that it ever was one, or being "touted" as one.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the other country in S.A. that is a bit further north?

Jesus. As I said in my first reply, I don't think it ever got as much traction as the fairy tail in Venezuela, but there was a brief period when Brazil was touted as a big success story for Socialist leadership. It was brief and it didn't get the huge amount of fanfare that it did in Venezuela a few years earlier.

Was there ever a great socialist country? Nope. Why some people think that a form of government that has failed every single time it has been tried will somehow magically work proves the stupidity of the human race.

Typical conservative name calling. "you don't agree with me you (insert insult)"

Fuck off you whiny little bitch! Call back when you accept manhood.
