And nobody east of the Rockies is surprised

ND game cost mccaffrey
ND's defense is absolute garbage and he got what? 100 yards on 30 carries or something
orrrrrrrrrr it might have something to do with espn being heavily invested w/ the SEC
w/e fuck the heisman
been a bullshit trophy for yrs -

Henry: 2000 rushing and 23 TDs, 100 rec yards
McCafferey: 1850 rushing and 12 TDs, 500 rec yards
Although he didn't get as many receiving yards, Henry had almost twice as many TDs and played on a playoff team. But I'm sure it's ESECPN or something, right? -
But what about the kick/punt return yardage McCafferey had you didn't include?PurpleJ said:Henry: 2000 rushing and 23 TDs, 100 rec yards

Also, didn't Stanford have a fb who had 13 one yard td runs? If McCafferey gets those and Henry still wins (which he would have) then what about the ESECPN thing? -
Henry still plays for a playoff team. I'd say hand out the award after the playoffs, but the point stands. The Heisman traditionally goes to the best player on the best team.godawgst said:

It's hard to get really upset over the most overrated trophy in American sports (which Gino Toretta won) but McCaffrey had a ton of all purpose yards.
If you want to go by YPC, Fournette and Dalvin Cook had way better averages. They weren't even finalists though.
Voters in the Souf, Midwest, and East (probably 80% of the total) watch Bammer at 2:30 or 3:30 or 7-8 p.m. and miss late Stanfraud games. Plus there are assholes like Tony Kornheiser who openly admit they don't watch West Coast games unless they're on at the right time.
I cared when I was 12. That was before I figured out that it was a popularity contest and networks sunk billions into tv contracts did their best to influence outcomes. -
I don't normally watch west coast games either and I won't continue to argue about a subjective award. McCafferey should make the fucking playoffs and then pop off. Same with Fournette and others. The stats were just to show that they have very similar numbers, but it's about winning.

Remound Wright was Stanford's goal line back and had 13 TD's. That hurt McCaffrey. 28.9 yards per kick return for McCaffrey too. Leading rusher and receiver for a top 10 team. He's had an amazing season.PurpleJ said:Henry: 2000 rushing and 23 TDs, 100 rec yards

I think McCaffrey deserved it, but it's splitting hairs really because all 3 guys had great seasons. -
Interesting stat:
Five $EC players have won the Heisman from 2007 through 2015.
Over the previous 36 years, four won it. South Carolina was an independent in 1980.
All of a sudden around 2006 or 2007, the SEC players must have just magically become far superior. It just magically happened because they just recruited and developed players and fed them more PEDs.
J? -
The SEC also won 7 titles during that span. That's your answer you doog fucking idiot.
-
Remound Wright's 15 TDs on 30 yards rushing cost McCaff the trophy
-
@Dennis_DeYoung silence speaks volumes

Yeah, that's the fucking problem.PurpleJ said:The Heisman traditionally goes to the best player on the best team.

Maybe the award should be voted on by former Heisman winners instead of voters who only see/hear about whatever player in the geographical region they live/work in?
The current format is like the presidential election, where it comes down to name recognition. -
I always knew McCaffine wasn't SEC enough....
-
good for #ourgaskin finishing 4th.
-
Everyone should chill because mccaff wins next year. NBD.
-
What part of "best athlete" do people forget. I mean. What chance does a smart white kid not in the SEC have to be an athlete?
-
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/news/story?id=3553033
since the 2007 billion dollar deal between espn and sec, they've had 4-5 heisman winners
before that 2 in the last 20+ years
i get sec resurgence and some dominance but lets be real here
promote your own -
Am I the only one here who doesn't GAFA kick return yardage? Get the kick at the goal line and stupidly plow straight ahead, and you should still average over 15 ypr just because the coverage isn't there yet. Do that four times a game over a 13-game season, and that's 1000 yards for doing what any stiff could do in that position. -
McCaffery was 2nd in NCAA in total KO return yards, and 6th in the NCAA in Avg KO return yards. Doesn't sound like a stiff to me.BearsWiin said:

You guys are arguing over what is worth more- a dine or a nickel.

Best player on "best team", you are right. Best player....McCaffrey, and it's not really close.FremontTroll said:You guys are arguing over what is worth more- a dine or a nickel.

Pretty much - because you're a Cal fan that has never watched successful football, and, therefore, doesn't understand the value of "special teams."BearsWiin said:

You are still working on getting a productive O and D on the same field. -
Yes, he was pretty good at kick returning. But not all teams have their featured RB as their kick returner. That gives him a lot of free yards in his total yardage numbers. I've had to hear a lot about him breaking Barry Sanders' total yardage record, but Barry had fucking 2600 yards rushing in 11 games. He had to fight for his yards. McCaffery, not so much.HuskyInAZ said:

I've seen your offense, you're in the same boat
Thanks to the wonder of cable Television, I've watched plenty of successful football. Rarely, it's come with a Cal script on the helmet. Equally rarely, it's come with a W on the helmet.
Meat me in the Waffle House parking lot so we can settle this like men
