I would say gang violence isn't as much race as it's socio economic. Gangs in bigger cities are populated by a poor economic segment, which the majority are minorities. Poor white people are in gangs as well. Basically, middle class black, hispanic, european, and asian kids aren't in gangs, just like middle class whites generally aren't either.dhdawg said:

The murder rate peaked in the early 90s because of the crack epidemic, which is inextricable from poverty. The murder rate last year was lower than in 1968 at about 14,250. Considering that America is much more diverse now then in the late 60s can you really try to claim that the murder rate is tied in any way to non-whites being more likely to kill?PurpleThrobber said:

The homicide rate per 100k in 1950 was 5.1, the rate in 2013 was 5.2.
