Coach Pete on the D and O coaching staff...

When asked if he expected the D to be this good:
“...I just think that we’ve got some really good coaches over there, we’ve got some really good kids that really bought into their coaching, and they’re competing really, really hard, and that’s all we can really ask.”
Has anybody ever heard him say we have really good coaches on the O side? I've heard him say good stuff about the OL coach and the RB coach.... but that's it.

Why don't you ask him that question.

Pete hasn't had a good offense since Harsin left. I think he hasn't recovered from the revolving door of assistants at BSU on the offense side, but fortunately he was about to replace Wilcox with Kawasaki and find some great assistants with Choate, Gregory, and Lake.Thump said:

FWIW, Strausser has been with Petersen since the start of time and our RB coach is also our recruiting coordinator, and he seems to be doing a great job there, so they've received some praise. -
"Pete, why haven't we found Jonathan Smith's lifeless corpse at the mouth of the Duwamish?"

It's interesting that in referencing the defense he said "over there." Kinda suggests where he spends most of his time.

The defensive coaching staff has a DC who had at least proven to coach great defenses at Boise State. Bob Gregory was a good DC at Cal and he's only the LB coach. Lake is certainly looking like a great coach too.
The secondary last year got absolutely torched against Eastern, but they immediately got better. It didn't takes years like it has taken any position group on offense. We lost some great players from last year's defense and have gotten better. The coaching is obviously good on that side of the ball. And Petersen deserves most of the credit for that.
Compare that to the offense where we have a MWC QB coach for a coordinator. I just wish the offense had the same, "Kick the shit out of you" attitude that the defense does. It just seems like the offense is much more complicated and detailed than the defense. A bunch of nice kids on offense compared to a bunch of junkyard dawgs on defense. I love watching the defense because they play with passion. The offense always plays timid and nervous. -
BSU was 17th in nation in scoring in 2013 (Petersen's last year there).
Other than that, good post.whatshouldicareabout said:

Putting up 60, and 63, against UT-Martin and Southern Miss, on the blue turf, is always special.whatshouldicareabout said:
