The excitement of Petersen has diminished significantly.

I see stubbornness getting in the way. The signs are there. The Chart is stubborn. The lack of change and progression on offense is stubborn. I think the stubbornness is making him delusional. He says the offense is progressing. But last week was the worst performance of his tenure as UW coach.
The pod talked about James when he made a change? When will that be for Petersen? What will it take? A boatrace? An assplunger? Will it be too late?
I hope the defense doesn't give up. They pass the eye test. They look more and more like a Husky Defense each week.. They are progressing each game. The defense at this point is acceptable. I did not expect the worst offense in the conference from Petersen.
The sizzle is gone.

Most of us dooged up his hire. Turns out he isn't a miracle worker. Jury is still out if he is decent coach.
I gave him two years and I'm sticking by that. I'll be fucked if I'm calling for him to
toe the 50 yard line at halftime next year but that's all the time he's got. We're tired of hearing about his bsu success. -
Petersen's expertise is on offense. That is very, very worrisome. I too am curious about his stubbornness. He is obviously firmly ingrained to the process.
None of us expected Petersen's offenses to suck. I remember being excited his offenses when he was hired. Announcers used to gush over the stuff he was doing at Boise. -
The next three games will probably determine whether I want Petersen fired or not. I have a little doog in me though and will probably accept a new OC and dream of a decent offense to go along with the defense and special teams.SpoonieLuv said:Most of us dooged up his hire. I'm still in denial. How can the D and Special Teams and player development and recruiting all show obvious advances and the offense still suck as bad as it does? I'm not ready to can him; I think this is fixable. There's too much good going on for this to be happening.

This is the best looking defense we've had here in almost TWENTY YEARS. Tough up front, linebackers (at least the two sophomores) flow to ball, hit hard, and stop ballcarriers at point of contact. Corners who can cover one vs one and be left on the island.droggins said:I know. Water is wet. But listening to the pods was really depressing. I'm feeling depressed.

This will all come down to his ability to get the offense to be above average. It doesn't have to be lights out with what we have on defense, but it has to be upper 1/2 of conference. -
Way too much wooching for my tastes...godawgst said:

Browning should be playing for coach's job in 2017

Let's see how they look tomorrow and circle back and dig down on this topic.

There are some positives going on here. Player development on defense and special teams is evident. I also like how the staff identifies talent while recruiting.
I am a firm believer in giving most coaches three years to turn the program around and with Peterson I will stick to that. -

In other words doesn't matter who coaches this dumpster fire of a program.

We've been going around the edges of this for years. Who does the hiring is more important than the hire.Meek said:In other words doesn't matter who coaches this dumpster fire of a program.
See Haden, Pat. Also see Boy,Pool -
I still think Sark has a chance. On offense, we have Sankey, ASJ, and Kasen. The OL should be much improved. If Price plays like he did in 2011, we could be really good. If he can't, we have two four star QB's with more talent waiting for their turn.
The defense took a big leap with Wilcox. It should only get better in year two. The only guy we lose is Trufant. Shaq, Feeney, and Shelton could be All Americans. Parker, Shirley, and Timu are good too. And Tosh is killing it on the recurring trail. We are in on some big time guys. I know we went 7-6, but the future is bright. If you can see the positives I don't know what to tell you. -
...and if we somehow find a way to beat USC, the dooging will go right back through the roof and Petersen will be the guy again.

I stand by my belief you give a coach three years.
By the end of year three you know what you have.
The signs are there that we know what we have in half that time ... but I will take Doog for $500 and give him the benefit he is cleaning up a mess.

Agreed. Sarkisian invariably won his home games while being strongly favored against a less talented opponent (but then he'd go on the road and lose to WSU or Oregon State).RoadDawg55 said:

I'm not really sure where all of this pessimism is coming from...maybe I'm the worst doog in the world but he literally has nothing to work with on O. This is not the usual youth excuse: A true frosh QB that looks too young for Sandusky and a line that might not be the best in the WIAA this year. Geez.
The D was already deep and has remained that way, and Kwat has been incredible. Pesky Pete wasn't hired to recruit, he was hired to develop, and 18 months in you guys are all panties in a bunch. LIFPO.
I'm going back to Dawgman unless you guys invite me to STAY.

If he has nothing to work with on offense after 18 months of development, he probably sucks.huskyfavre said:I'm not really sure where all of this pessimism is coming from...maybe I'm the worst doog in the world but he literally has nothing to work with on O. So we need to wait until 2019 to have a competent OL?huskyfavre said:

Nah, but I think the first real (Pac-12) game those guys have played is too soon. They should get better through the year, or else FYFMFE.TierbsHsotBoobs said:

Expecting them to get more than 17 points against FUCKING Cal at home is too much apparently.huskyfavre said:

4 years of bad offense for Petersen. Time to open your eyes. It wasn't youth that made the coaches abandon the running game against Cal. It wasn't youth last year either.huskyfavre said:I'm not really sure where all of this pessimism is coming from...maybe I'm the worst doog in the world but he literally has nothing to work with on O. Youth would likely prevent the offense from being really good. It isn't the reason they have been the worst in the PAC 12. -
