I think Haden prioritized recruiting with the hire as they were facing a few critical classes coming off sanctions. Sark knew the school, knew the local connects, and the coffee cup game. Arguably you should never prioritize recruiting at SC...but that's my narrative, because it makes very little sense otherwise.sarktastic said:

You have to question if there simply wasn't a better name to be had out there - Black Sark didn't want it. Peterson had turned down the LA schools several times. Patterson/DickRod/Graham would kill there, but not sure they'd take it? Haden probably was be faced with deep B-List college coaches, or NFL alums like Del Rio or Jeff Fisher. Those type of coaches would carry a risk with recruiting and potentially load the roster up with deadweight as they came off sanctions with several 25+ person classes.
Instead they went with a B-List connect to the Carroll good ole days that could (and eventually did) hit the recruiting ground running. It could work out if they get rid of Sark soon and hand a very very nice roster over to an adult.
Or maybe Haden is simply the biggest fucktard to ever have been awarded a Rhodes Scholarship. -
