Why young lineman will be fine playing early

Socha earned a degree in kinesiology and a masters degree in exercise physiology. He was an OL in college. After that he spent his time in the weight room as an assistant S&C coach and then the head S&C coach. He's in his 10th year as head S&C coach.
Ivan's degrees were in education and leadership studies. He spent a lot of time as an assistant S&C coach but UW was his first time being the head S&C coach.
With Socha, I don't think we need to be worried about Adams and other guys playing early. If they get hurt they will have a S&C coach who can rehab and develop them properly. Socha is far superior to Ivan. He played (Ivan didn't), he studied the subject (Ivan didn't) and he has a lot more experience.

I'm hearing bench press isn't that important anymore, just what I've heard out here.
-
So you are saying that you learn by doing? Noble concept
-
Another thing to bring up is that Petersen and Socha have worked together since 2006, so Petersen knows what Socha can do and Socha knows what Petersen wants. If Petersen didn't want him, he would've been fired a long time ago. And it's worth noting that Petersen has made the S&C an emphasis from the first moment he arrived on campus.

Socha was his first hire no?

I like @Gladstone, I am just saying, that he is probably the most likely on this bored to commit suicide during a game. And it would be a random time during a game, like against an FCS team or something and UW is up by 30 with 8 minutes left in the game and UW runs a dumb play and Gladstone just decides to kill himself at that point because he has had enough.

Man.
I freak out one time over the Sarell kid and now I am labeled. I am pretty bad but I nominate DDY's "Kill everyone" breakdowns in the game threads as biggest freak out poster. Hahaha. -
I wish Adams could redshirt, but if he's good enough, he plays. He's a weirdo with a mullet that rides his bike in his boxers to Jimmy Johns. He gets in fights with upperclassmen at practice. He's from a shit hole (Wenatchee).
He's built for this shit. And he's really good and I don't think it's typical undeserving hype. He's not wishing he wasn't 300 pounds and dreaming of catching some sick waves like Kohler. -
Maybe with run blocking. But pass pro goes beyond roids weights and being talented. That's where the smarts, the technique, the knowledge of the game and experience come in. Not just individually, but collectively too. Experience as a group matters with pass pro.
Run block not so much, especially in zone blocking schemes. That's basically fire out and maul anyone that comes across your face mask. -
That got some good belly laughs in my mom's basement.

Irregardless, it's a mute point. -
Who gives a fuck what the coach's qualifications are? That doesn't change the fact that these kids are true freshmen who have only spent about 6 months in an actual college S&C program. Linemen should be an automatic redshirt. Fucking stupid post.

This much delayed poodcast is going to be flooded with sexual tension. Chest better be careful eating dinner while recording, or it may sound x-rated.Tequilla said:

If a player is not physically ready he should redshirt. At least 81% of linemen are not physically ready as freshmen. For the few who are, play them if you need to.
You shouldn't play them thinking they will probably get hurt, but we've got great rehab program so it will all be okay. That's Sark fucking shortsighted.
If you think a lineman is physically ready, likely won't get hurt, and you absolutely need them, then you can play them. -
uh, me?PurpleJ said:Who gives a fuck what the coach's qualifications are?
but their qualifications aren't what's most important. what matters is whether or not they perform their jobs well. win or get the fuck out.
if a 81 year old homeless granny, whose resume consists of McDonald's cashier, gives *the kids* the best roids and turns them into monsters, more power to her. if some fuck named Ivan with degrees and shit produces noodle-armed losers with the hotdog diet, then run him.
that said, being well qualified for something is usually a pretty good indicator of good future performance. -
You like to take things out of context. That's what you like to do. Coaching qualifications won't make a true frosh any more physically ready to play a whole season of D1 OL. So fuck off.PostGameOrangeSlices said:

Actually, good S&C coaching would make a huge difference. You're saying you wouldn't have more faith in a kid Socha has trained versus Ivan? Generally I agree with you regarding redshirting freshman lineman, but some scenarios do warrant playing them. If Adams is better than Shelton (likely), then fucking play him.PurpleJ said:

If Socha is who we think he is, he would have already taken to heart the advice i would give him a long time ago. Premium roids and a lot of fucking food.
Judging by the transformation of Boise State's 1 star diamonds in the ruff to bad motherfuckers, we should be fine. -
I already won the argument. Again.PostGameOrangeSlices said:
