Sure. But that little "if" is the basis of your OP. And if my aunt had balls.....

It's the kind of FS shit coogs spew every offseason.

Russell and Randle are players who would start on any team, whereas the coogs are wishcasting on players nobody wanted.

    Totally the same thing.

I think the Laker glasses are distorting reality for some. Russell and Randle may prove to be very good NBA players. But to think they would start on any team is just FS.

I'm not a Laker fan but even I can see that comparing Laker optimisim to coog optimism is the real FS idea here.

If you assume Roy Hibbert helps the Lakers, you are APAGFS

In the regular season he helps. The Lakers will still suck, but Hibbert is a good defensive center. He's a lot better than Robert Sacre or a rookie Upshaw.

If the Lakers don't land anyone in FA next year they are screwed. Also no pick next year unless it is in the top 3.

Also who is the last big FA that LA signed? Shaq?

You don't need to sign for free agents when you get Wilt, Kareem, the draft pick that became Magic, Worthy and Kobe in trades

Their goal should be losing as many games as possible

Depends on what you think is needed to make the playoffs in the West next year ...

Hibbert for all of his shortcomings is still a decent center - particularly defensively. No question he's a liability on the court against a team that can go small and spread you out like the Warriors. But there's enough teams in the West that will have bigs where Hibbert will add value.

Williams is a proven bench scorer that will provide solid depth.

Jordan Clarkson still has a lot to prove but when you look at the monthly splits once he started getting significant minutes, you'll see a player trending in the right direction.

Russell will get a little baptism by fire this year but he's going to be an elite player in the league. He's got a lot of Harden to his game IMO.

Julius Randle is going to be a very solid player in the league ... he won't be sexy but will be a strong rebounder, should be an above average defender, and nice mid-range shooter. I see a lot of Horace Grant in him.

The planned signing of Brandon Bass is one I like a lot. Very solid player that will contribute.

It's not going to be a great team. But it should be a far more competitive team than I think many will give it credit for. And I do think it is important for the young players to be in a situation where they have some veteran experience and some expectation of winning to set the tone for what it means to be a Laker.

You can't tank when your pick is top 3 protected.
