Sounds like something Ty would say.

But unlike Willingham, Petersen seems to have already gotten some results on that front.PurpleJ said:Sounds like something Ty would say.

When Chris Petersen arrived at Washington, he made it clear his players would be as committed in the classroom as they were on the field.
“It has really always been our belief as coaches that our most squared away students are going to be our best players,” Washington’s football coach said. “If you have a bunch of 3.0 students, you should eventually have a bunch of good, solid players.”
Petersen is creating a culture where “it is very cool to be smart.” To facilitate that idea, the Huskies make a point to celebrate success in the classroom. From the 3.0 board mounted in football offices, to the team meeting each quarter that points out and praises each student who earned a spot on that list, academic achievement is built into the fabric of this program. -
They need to hashtag one of these stories with that. Or #NoEdgePurpleJ said: -
Stanford and MIT are "elite institutions." The UW is mostly selective. I've heard tales that they take transfers from NSCC not far from the 7/11 on Aurora. Elite!

For 99% of the student athletes, UW is an elite institution.ApostleofGrief said:Stanford and MIT are "elite institutions." The UW is mostly selective. I've heard tales that they take transfers from NSCC not far from the 7/11 on Aurora. Elite!

11 poasts and no *academis? WTF. Bored is loosing it.
He had to say that shit cause it's what the admin wants.
But out of the public eye winning better be priority 1 2 and 3. -
The only thing I hate more than smart people is smart football players.

you assholes realize that burying the post is not the same as some kind of counterargument. The fact is that the UW is NOT an elite school. Some/certain departments are hard to get in to, like engineering, but that is mostly due to lack of funds. The engineering school is on par with the most peer schools. If you say the UW is elite then you might as well call a whole lot of its peers elite, which means it is not elite, only average. -
actually I would say engineering is above average, not elite though. Better than WSU.

It's not Stanfraud, an Ivy, or a "public Ivy," but it's a good school. It's better than Central.ApostleofGrief said:ApostleofGrief said:Stanford and MIT are "elite institutions." The UW is mostly selective. I've heard tales that they take transfers from NSCC not far from the 7/11 on Aurora. Elite!

I guess you don't want to argue UW is elite in football... seriously exactly in WHAT WAY is UW elite??
-
US news and world report ranks UW #48, in a tie with:
http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/yeshiva-university-2903
Yeshiva University. I've never even heard of fucking Yeshiva University. So according to your line of reasoning elite means being tied with fucking Yeshiva University? -
UW isn't elite but they are trying to get there.
I love good football players who happen to be smart. They pick up things quickly (important with mandated limited practice time unlike the NFL) and tend to remember opponent tendencies from scouting reports.
First play that comes to mind about a player being smart was Mason Foster's interception off the foot of an Arizona WR on a spread screen. He freelanced a little but his smarts paid off with a Pick 6 for the win. -
How many times can a fucktard respond to himself? This thread may be a non-Puppy record.
UW is a top 20 world university in the only fucking thing a university is good for which is research.
If you think universities are there to teach the fucking kiddies you are a fucking moron.
It is not as selective for undergraduate admissions, but only fucktarded morons who don't know anything about what a university is supposed to be think quality of teaching and undergrad selectivity are important metrics.
Using US News is a goddamn disgrace. A bunch of that is undergrad's ratings of their own experience. Are you fucking stupid? Jesus.
Also, CWU is 'possibly' better than UW in business? Belly laughs in the fucking press box, bitch.
Academis! -
This thread is worthless without @creepycoug

If you went to a smaller school around here to save money and/or liked the school and got yourself a good job, then good for you. Now shut the fuck up.ApostleofGrief said:

You seem angry AoG...and coming from me that's saying something.
-
then Peterman should have said "UW is elite, but to qualify that If you think universities are there to teach the fucking kiddies you are a fucking moron!"
also, I am only saying that UW is not elite, not that some other school like CWU or EWU is. I'm not crazy. -
Just to spike the ball, I must have missed CWU on these metrics:
UW 5th in the world in Life Sciences (something that actually fucking matters).
UW 3rd in the world in Medicine (something that actually matters).
UW 26th in the world in basic sciences (something that actually fucking matters a lot).
UW 30th in the world at Engineering and Computer Sciences (well, it's applied, but whatever).
UW 28th in the world in Social Sciences (which would include business you fucking moron).
