My fantasy baseball team, the Wartime Consiglieres, picked Montgomery up from the free agent pool for $1. To this point, he's looking like the steal of the year. Especially since I'm in first place as of July 1st.

Montgomery had been in high minors for 5 years and flashed nothing like this. There is a chance he could have figured something out, but this is most likely just a really hot streak.

If we've learned anything about the Mariners, as soon as you say something is looking up, the implosion begins. This is mostly true. He was a very highly regarded prospect at one poont though, so it's possible he's finally tapped into whatever he flashed back in the day.
