Fuck Wade, he's Steve Nash part two. Have they not learned a damn thing? Use the #2 pick for a big, use the 27th pick (Jerry West style and take a chance on Robert Upshaw), or trade up from 27 with whatever it takes to get two top 5 (D'Angelo and whoever Minnesota does' t draft) picks and you have a strong nucleus with Randle, Mudiay or D'Angelo and a big man . Fuck Kobe and that look at me contract, let his ass go/walk or just GTFO in 2016. He's single handedly destroyed my Lakers over the past 4 seasons
Lakers Draft if they don't move
#27 for
Delon Wright, PG, Utah
Robert Upshaw, C, Washington
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, SF, Arizona
#2 for
Jahill Okafor or Emmanuel Mudiay

The Lakers won't be better until Kobe is gone.

Wade would be a terrible signing. Unless you are contending for a championship, taking on a past his prime, yet still big money free agent would be really, really FS.
The Lakers ideally should tank this season for another high draft pick, but it's only top 3 protected because of the Steve Nash trade. But this season should be all about seeing what you have in Okafor/Russell/Mudiday, Randle, Clarkson, etc. Let Kobe and Jordan Hill's combined 33 million come off the books and go big in free agency the next couple years. A couple big free agents paired with some hopefully established young guys and the Lakers will be back.
It shouldn't be too difficult, but the Buss children seem like fucking morons. They will probably try to appease Kobe, sign fairly expensive free agents like Rondo, Wade, and/or Paul Millsap and enjoy barely missing the playoffs or losing in the first round while fucking up the future. -
Jimmy Buss is an idiot ... Jeanie will be running the total show in 24 months.

What has Jeanie Buss ever done other than fuck Phil Jackson?Tequilla said:Jimmy Buss is an idiot ... Jeanie will be running the total show in 24 months.

I would imagine that all the lakers need to do is allow kobe to be kobe on this currently constructed team and it will be just like tanking!
Let kobe fire up 35 shots a game and get his $$$. Then walk away after next year. Everyone wins.
As RD said, go big in FA in another year after kobe is gone and you have a nice substantial amount of young talent. -
You mean besides running the business side of the Lakers and locking them into the super lucrative tv deal with Time Warner? Hard to argue that she's made any wrong call in that regard since Jerry Buss's death.RoadDawg55 said:

Hard to read any article with her and not see that she's sharp and Jimmy is an idiot:

Lol at giving Jeanie Buss any credit for the tv deal. The Lakers were long established as a premier franchise before Jeanie took over. They got the tv deal because of the demand. Giving her credit for that is like giving Donald Sterling credit for having a franchise worth 2 billion.Tequilla said:

She's social and knows how to play the media game better than Jim. Aligning with Phil Jackson helped perceptions as well. I really don't know what she has done to earn any praise.
Jimmy is on the basketball side and mostly cedes the decision making to Kupcheck. People hate nepotism and Jimmy likes to drink and drug. He's probably an idiot, but I've never understood why he gets all the shit and Jeanie gets a pass. It seems like media bullshit to me. -

The Lakers are after Cousins and the 6th pick for the 2nd pick and the kid from Kentucky that was hurt all year

Getting Cousins would be a great move for the Lakers. The Kings might be the dumbest team in the league.RaceBannon said:The Lakers are after Cousins and the 6th pick for the 2nd pick and the kid from Kentucky that was hurt all year

Let's not shortchange Jordan and the Bobcat, errr, hornets. The model of a franchise is letting jordan be your owner/GM when his barometer is whether he can beat a player 1-1RoadDawg55 said:

Cousins for Randle and the 2nd pick probably is a reasonable deal ... if the Lakers get the 6th pick back that's even more comical.RoadDawg55 said:

But then again, this is why the Lakers are the Lakers and the Kings are the Kings. -
George Karl wants Cousins gone, but their owner Ranadive came out and said that's not going to happen. What a dipshit organization that is. Karl has a history of butting heads with his star players and Cousins already has attitude issues. Gee I wonder what could go wrong there?
Ranadive has already put a player above the coach, which in this case is accurate but that isn't something you make public. He's awful but he wouldn't even be an owner if Stern didn't want to fuck over Seattle again. -

I've seen mocks that have Okafor going to the Kings at #6 ... if that's the case then you can assume that the Kings will be able to finally pull the trigger on Boogie Wonderland.
Hard to blame Boogie for being a malcontent in an organization who has an owner who has openly opined on whether or not cherry picking would be an effective NBA strategy. -
I don't think Okafor lasts until 6. I'm not a huge Okafor fan, but that would be pretty stupid. I think at minimum he's a 15 and 8 center. An Enes Kanter all offense, no defense type. At his best he's a 22 and 10 All Star. And for all the bullshit about "today's" NBA, when all the other teams zig, you are better off zagging.Tequilla said:I've seen mocks that have Okafor going to the Kings at #6 ... if that's the case then you can assume that the Kings will be able to finally pull the trigger on Boogie Wonderland.

On the Kings front, they are a retarded franchise and should seriously punk the shit out of Karl, if not fire him for letting things get to this point. But the damage may have already been done. They are still years away from being any good with Cousins. -
espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13148737/sacramento-kings-owner-vivek-ranadive-considering-firing-coach-george-karl
Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive has considered firing George Karl, who was hired as coach four months ago to help turn around the struggling franchise.
"If you fire Karl, now you can't control Cousins because he'll know he's running the place," the source said. "Now he'll feel like he's telling you what to do."
Lol, nice. Karl gets $11 million guaranteed for 4 months of coaching. -
Wall to wall coverage of the Lakers big #2 pick tonight. The Clippers didn't get this much coverage in the playoffs.
This is the the big test for Buss. From Jack Kent Cooke through Dr. Buss the Lakers rebuilt on the fly and got superstars by hoodwinking other teams. I don't think it is as easy to do that these days but still......gotta make something happen
Ted Stepian isn't going to trade Lebron for that #2 pick. -
Actually, I don't think it's that bad for the Lakers if they can get shit figured out here ...
If they can pull off Boogie for the #2 pick ... and even more so if they can pull off assets (including Julius Randle) to get the #6 pick back, that's the MASSIVE element that will spur their rebuilding.
What are the odds that Westbrook heads to LA when he's a free agent?
If they strike out on Boogie, what are the odds that they can lure Love? Particularly if there is a wink wink deal in the background for Westbrook in the future? If the Lakers get a big, I think Love heads to Portland. IF they don't, I think he heads to the Lakers.
Kobe's crazy contract comes off the books after this season and they can go after a huge piece at that point.
As long as Jimmy Buss does what he does best (be a rich guy that likes to party) and not interfere with the grownups, the Lakers will be just fine. I have 100x the confidence in Jeanie Buss to do the right thing given her background working for her father from the bottom up in his sporting empire while Jimmy was busy doing whatever it was that Jimmy was doing. -
I like the Russell pick.
-
Upshaw to LA? at 27, Love to Lakers?
-
They must think they are getting a big somewhere. I think they keep Russell so the Boogie dream is dead
