Any Chance At This?
Curry has been very average at best, he currently has finals averages of 23.5ppg, 6.3apg, 5 turnovers per game, and shooting 41%.
LeBron's has finals averages of: 35.8ppg, 12rpg, 8.3apg, and shooting 38%.
I think if Curry plays just a little better for the remainder of the series, they probably give it to him. I also have a theory:
If LeBron continues to go nuts and Cavs lose in 6, they could give LeBron the MVP in front of Cleveland's crowd. Hard to imagine them giving LeBron finals MVP in GS if it goes to 7 and they lose.

Assuming GS wins, and wins in 6, then I think you have to strongly consider giving the MVP trophy to Andre Iguodala ... he's been the best Warrior in the series by far at this point.
That being said, if LBJ keeps his averages around that level, then it wouldn't shock me if he wins the MVP award. For what he is working with, pushing this series to at least 6 games is a testament to what he's done. The Cavs honestly had no business winning 2 games in this series. -

It probably won't happen, because it is hard to imagine the NBA giving the hardware to a player on the losing team, but no one on GS really deserves it as of now. However, there is still at least two more games. If neither Iggy or Curry assert themselves, I could see LeBron getting it if they lose in 6. The irony there is that if they lose in 7, LeBron probably deserves it even more since he got them an extra win, but hard to imagine them announce LeBron as finals MVP at Oracle. -
Anyone who argues LeBron isn't the most valuable player in this series isn't watching. This is a sweep by 40+ per game without LeBron. I can't imagine a more valuable performance.
Of course, losing players have probably deserved the MVP before and not received it, and as you noted West is the only losing player who ever won it and that was way back before Race was old enough to be president. I can't really see it happening, but as you said, it would require a) the Cavs looser in six b) Curry doesn't go off the last two games.
I think there's a good chance both happen. I'd love to see him win it. -
I'd have no problem with LBJ winning the Finals MVP - it would be deserved - particularly if the last 2 GS wins are competitive games. His case goes down just a bit if we see another 2 wins similar to Game 4 where GS runs them off the court.
This series has always been about GS handling their business than anything else.
Curry was a deserving MVP this year as the best player on the best team and the catalyst for everything that they did. That being said, the brilliance of GS is that they are a team that is built on far more than a single player. Curry is absolutely brilliant as a player and probably the best shooter that I've ever seen (particularly off the dribble). But there's no way that Curry wins a title without having the right pieces and players around him. That's not a knock on him ... that's true for pretty much every single player that has ever played the game. -

But that wasn't the same guy as in games 1 through 3.

Unless Lebron completely shits the bed (which he won't) in games 5 and 6 then he should absolutely get the MVP.
