Wiz-Hawks

Whitman gonna Whitman.

Whitman sucks but Budenholzer might be worse.
-
Bud's a very good coach.
-
Not sure what you're doing there. Because he won a bunch of regular season games? His team is underperforming in the playoffs. Whitman's teams over perform.
-
Christ. Bud's been a head coach for two seasons. Winning 60 with the Hawks was impressive.allpurpleallgold said:Not sure what you're doing there. Because he won a bunch of regular season games? His team is underperforming in the playoffs. Whitman's teams over perform.

Calling him overrated because he's down 2-1 in the 2nd round is FS. If Bud had a long career of failing in the playoffs I would agree, but he's in his 2nd year. I guess Steve Kerr sucks too.allpurpleallgold said:RoadDawg55 said:

Steve Kerr is in the west playing the Memphis Grizzlies. "Bud" is playing the Wizards. Minus John Wall.
-
Kerr also has a way better roster with a top 5 player.allpurpleallgold said:Steve Kerr is in the west playing the Memphis Grizzlies. "Bud" is playing the Wizards. Minus John Wall.

It's like nobody ever heard of George Karl

I called game

Winning 81 in the east would not be impressive.TierbsHsotBoobs said:

You mean the ball hog aka John Wall who doesn't play a lick of Defense.allpurpleallgold said:Steve Kerr is in the west playing the Memphis Grizzlies. "Bud" is playing the Wizards. Minus John Wall.
Man, you slurp up shoe commercial idols like it's the nectar.
When in reality it's called ball movement + better D= addition by subtraction. -
I always wondered what Cowherd's handle here was. Now I know.salemcoog said:

I have no idea how good of a defender Wall is, but most defensive statistics are shit.
James Harden was one of the bet defenders earlier this year according to stats. I would assume that is because he's always guarding the weakest perimeter threat. -
Defensive metrics are flawed, for sure. But it's a pretty far jump from doesn't play any defense to best point guard defender by the metrics. I've literally never heard any serious NBA writer say that about Wall. Washington finished 5th in defensive effiency this year and that's actually a good stat. That is a miracle since Wall plays no defense and always guards the other teams point guard.
Even Harden tried on defense this year. You couldn't say he didn't play a lick of it.
Without looking into it at all, I'd guess Harden stacks up well because of his free throws. It's much easier to play defense off of free throws when you can set your defense than off normal offense. The stats back that up. Add a high steal number and you've cracked defensive metrics. -
Bump
Hawks 74-73 with three minutes left
But why does the NBA suck? -
It's been ugly, but the 4th has been entertaining.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:Bump

I should have gone to WSU. Because the God damn Wizards and Capitals sure know how to Coug it.
Just kidding, I have no business at WSU. I have all my teeth and am not a fucking moron -
Hawks have to be one of the most overrated #1 seeds in NBA history. Hawks are at full strength and are struggling against the Wizards who have basically been playing without their all-star PG the entire series.
As much as I don't like Cleveland, they should handle the Hawks rather easily. -

I want the Hawks so when my Cavs win I can tell RoadDawg55 I was right
-
I kind of jumped off the Hawks bandwagon in March. They still might make the Finals in the drecky East.RaceBannon said:I want the Hawks so when my Cavs win I can tell RoadDawg55 I was right
Golden State has it in the bag. -
Nice pic Sven but.... the 94-95 Sonics were 6 W's ahead of everyone else in the NBA and also had an SRS of 8.68 which was way ahead of everyone else and even the #2 Knicks at 6.48.
Atlanta had the best W/L and SRS in the East but had the 4th best SRS overall.
Rather than the most overrated the 94-95 Sonics probably were the biggest choke...perhaps in NBA history.
And stop being a dingleberry about SRS. It adjusts for point differential and SOS and is a pure measure at how good teams are. Its much more important to football given the much shorter schedule.
Interestingly, there is a parallel to the Sonics in the 90s and Oregon football recently. Both registered extremely strong SRS ratings over more than a few seasons but could never win the ultimate prize. -

My Hawks just get it done.
