Matt Fink Offered by Notre Dame

I think that will be UW's main competition for him. Notre Dame is making him a priority because their new staff was just announced yesterday and now they offered Fink. Mike Sanford has a ton of west coast ties, really hope we can hold ND off for him.

I think Pete could get a commitment fromFink if they put the press on him now. I would take a visit to Lake Stevens and let Skinny know that if he has any thoughts about being a hometown hero, the clock is now ticking

Fink needs to go to ND because Eason is coming here.

In his last TBS report, Eklund said "people need to forget about Eason. It's not going to happen. He's not coming here. Staff has moved on."

Let's just file that one away in the filing cabinet shall we.
    That's a good idea ...

Twisters need to be careful with this comment, but the whole "in good shape if Seven was here but Pete did everything wrong logic" suggests that kids commit PRIMARILY because of the coaching staff. Is it a factor? Absolutely. But is it the only factor? Hell no.

I was thinking that, but did you see Eklund's latest report?

UPDATE: Kim says Notre Dame doesnt really want him. I mean, they offered but they wouldn't accept his commitment. They want an elite dual-threat QB. Posters have since pointed out that:
    A) Fink is a dual-threat qb
    B) ND OC Sanford has almost the same offensive philosophy as Petersen.

Things may get interesting but I see a potential locked thread in the future

Is this serious? How does he not know Fink is a dual-threat QB?

The guy knows nothing, it really is amazing. Even with Kim's ADD if you just watch 7 seconds into his HUDL you can see he is a Dual-Threat.

The real reason Kim is downplaying Fink is because just in case Petersen does get him he can say he is not that good and that ND didn't really want him. Not that hard to figure out Kim's strategy.

It's the first fucking play. I watched two plays and then went on my way. How did I do more research than the CEO of Dman?

That is what is so funny about all this evaluation stuff going on out there. If you watch a player's HUDL you know within 3-4 plays if they are really good or not. Like you said with Fink, you watch about 30-40 seconds of it and you are like, "Ooooh, he can play." It's just like when you go to an actual HS football game that has 1 D1 player, you can tell during warmup's who that player is just by how they carry themselves.

It's not some rocket science. Now for coaches they have to watch more to look for all sorts of stuff to make sure everything checks out.

Okay, I hate to bring football talk into a thread bashing kem and the LPT, however I do have a question for someone who isn't anywhere near smart enough to judge football(so basically i'm HH version of Eklund).

When I watch Finks hudl, it looks like his back foot pops up a lot on his throws and that he isn't driving as much off the back leg as much. Is this something i'm making up, or is it mechanical which could then make him have a stronger arm. I'm not trying to call him cyler miles, don't twist.

I'm not an expert (other than my brothers both pitched quite a bit) ... the back leg gives you power to transition momentum forward.

I haven't watched his film, so not passing any judgement on it. But it most definitely can be taught as part of improved mechanics.

His eyes are open when he throws, for one, so he is no Miley.... but you make a good point on the backfoot lifting up.

From his picked highlight film... this was an issue for sideline throws outside the hashes but he seemed to drive off his lower half for deep throws.

    But I am no EklundTBSguru.
