Rule Changes for 2015

1. Allowing wide-spread use of eight-man officiating crews.

2. Adjusting the illegal receiver downfield barrier from three yards beyond the line of scrimmage to one. A lineman must now be engaged with a defensive player if further than one yard downfield.

3. A 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct for players who pull or push opposing players off piles. Every single fumble pile up will now be covered in yellow confetti.

4. Installing a 10-second run-off on the game clock in a defensive player loses his helmet in the final minute of a half. The play clock will now also be set at 40 seconds instead of 25.

5. Allowing teams a sideline warning when personnel moves out of the designated area, instead of going straight to a flag.

6. Players in violation of equipment rules – untucked jerseys, messages written on eye black – must leave the field for one play. A team may take a timeout to negate this rule.

7. Teams must be on the field for pre-game warmups at least 22 minutes before kickoff, but can mutually agree to reduce that number.

8. Calling of timeouts by the head coach is now replay reviewable. Without more clarity, there’s a lot of gray in this rule. Is it when the coach says the words? Makes the timeout signal? When the ref sees it?

9. If the play clock reaches 25 seconds before the ball is set for play, it will automatically reset to 40 seconds. Previously, the clock had to tick to 20 seconds before the play clock could be reset.

10. Non-standard, Chris Canty-style face masks will now be prohibited.

The bolded one could be interesting.

Too damned many rules. But I think #2 is a decent one in favor of the defense.

Yeah, agreed. I think the uniform one and the timeout one will be gamed by smartass coaches

I thought #3 was the most interesting. That's going to bring a massive change in football culture.

Rich Rod's offense gonna really be hurtin if #2 is actually enforced. Ditto Gus Malzahn.

Untucked jerseys? Don't most linemen have jerseys untucked after every play?

Can't wait until we get the inevitable replay of whether Seven did or did not call an icing timeout.

Not really sure I see the point of the penalty on the defense for the helmet coming off - I get the reasoning behind it and wanting to penalize for not promoting safety, but it's such an arbitrary rule. If your helmet comes off and the ref catches it being as the result of a direct action/penalty from someone else, you're ok. If not, you're out for a play. The reality is that when you look at the replays on a high % of those plays it's the direct result of someone else with illegal hands to the face or whatnot and it just not being caught by the officials.

The point is that, if an offense is running out of time, a player on the offense could remove the helmet from a defensive player as a means of stopping time. If a helmet comes off for a defense near the end of the half, it would stop the clock and give the offense that much more time to get a play in or substitute (since the defense would need to substitute). Now, they run the clock off.

It makes sense in theory, let's just see how it actually works.

The unsportsmanlike penalty will turn into a joke ... they will almost always be offsetting and it's not going to solve anything. Not even sure what they are trying to solve here.

The way I see it, if someone comes into a pile and tries to remove players and a ref throws a flag... it's gonna stop other players from doing it (unless the other players are idiots burning bridges). Yeah, if two people do it from two different teams, it'll be offsetting. But when another player sees a flag come out, they might wise up and think twice about pushing players off a pile.

I honestly don't know and both of my brothers married Hispanic gals, and the city I live in is 45% Hispanic.

The annoying sis-in-law poasted a utube videya about it on fagbook and I still don't get it....they're in the fucking cuntry illegally. Don't like being called illegal? Renew or get a Green card. It's a simple term, not a pejorative.

The ghetto one is ridiculous too. We can't say that now? Go fuck yourself

Whatever happened to "sticks and stones may break my bones but it's okay as long as I wasn't raped in the ghetto by a gay, retarded illegal alien"

Less interested in the rules that are more about what people sitting in a room want versus what actually makes the game better.

All for the changes in illegal man downfield penalties ... that was an obvious fix that needed to be cleaned up as it was becoming ridiculous.

The one rule that needs to be revisited in college is the clock stopping on first downs. It's an archaic rule that was in place to help teams in end of game situations since hurry up situations weren't the forte of college QBs 30+ years ago. Now? Everybody runs a hurry up offense of some kind or another. It's just not something that needs to be in the game anymore IMO.

There's always a fine balance between too much and not enough scoring. A high scoring game can be a joy to watch as much as a low scoring game. Ultimately, it comes down to quality of play. The problem in college football right now is that plays are being devalued. TDs are too easy. Defenses are generally defenseless as the rules have been slanted to the offense for a while.

Disagree. Stopping the clock on a 1st down is quintessential college football. To tinker with that would be unforgivable. It also makes the ends of close games, generally, far more interesting than the NFL.

Raped. Retarded. Terrorist. Gay. Ghetto. Illegal alien.

These are all still allowed here at Hardcore Husky in case you didn't know.

Example: Kim Grinolds is a gay, retarded piece of shit who need to gets his ghetto house ransacked by an illegal alien while he gets raped in the ass by a terrorist.

Would you say that if you knew YOUR WORDS HAVE POWER?

I dislike coaches are allowed to call timeout.

I dislike even more it is now a reviewable play.

That's the worst idea of the bunch and it's not even close.
