Yeah, bleacher report is my source fuck off. This is most likely a pipe dream but if you can make it work financially you have to do it. Suh would give Seattle the best D line in the league to go along with the best secondary and a top linebacker unit. Draft Marcus Peters in the first round to replace Maxwell and that will at least get you excited about next year after the Bevell tragedy. High character guys are for losers.

Suh would help the pass rush for sure ... definitely one area where over the course of the season you saw a bit of a drop off. For the Hawks to play defense the way that they do (limited blitzing and relying on their secondary and LBs to lock up and make breaks on the ball), it's a requirement to have a front 4 that can get pressure. Suh definitely can do that from his DT position and IF you also move Bennett interior on passing downs, you have a very difficult situation for the interior of the OL and will result in the outside guys having 1 on 1 opportunities the vast majority of the time.

Hopefully Wilson is a bit like Brady in that he will sign a team friendly deal with an a cap hit of around 16 mill to give the Hawks more flexibility down the road.
If Suh really wants to play in Seattle he will have to take a pay cut as well. No way do we have the cap space to have Wilson, Cam, Sherman, Thomas, Bennett, Avril, etc., signed long term + other commitments + draft picks.... -
The Seahawks will have the best defense of all time with Suh. There is no way they can afford him though.

All depends on what people sign for ... if people want to win championships then if you can get some sacrifices on what is going on ... then you have a chance.
It would appear as if the Hawks have $23M in cap space going into next season:

You know that you're going to take a good chunk of that and spread it out to Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner. Wagner you're probably going to be looking at a deal a little richer than KJ Wright ... something in the $5M per year range would be my guess. Wilson is the wild card. I personally think that Wilson would be better off routinely signing contracts in the 3-4 year range that fit within the cap and allow for the team to surround him with the best players possible as the amount of money that he'll make outside of football is only going to increase as he continues to win at levels that have never been seen before.
Looking at this chart, Mebane is a potential cap casualty as they can pull in $5.5M into cap space if they release him. Likewise, they can pull another $5M in from the cap if they release Okung. Make these two releases and you're up to $33M in cap space before resigning Wilson/Wagner. My guess is that after resigning those two the Hawks will have somewhere in the $15-$20M range for the cap.
If you look forward to 2016 with a cap probably in the $150M range, they currently only have $77M allocated to the cap. That number will go up depending on the contracts given to Wilson, Wagner, and Lynch. But other than that, they are in a great position cap wise - particularly if they can put together a nice draft class or two together this year.
I would expect that the Hawks will sign Jermaine Kearse to something in the range of a 3 year $6-7M contract this offseason.
Bottom line is that depending on what Suh wants, it's completely doable that he could be fit in under the cap. If he's searching out $20M per year ... then of course he's not going to get it. But if he's willing to be in the $12-$15M per year (doable when you start factoring in state income taxes) and values playing close to home and for a championship contender, then it's possible. -
Wilson is going to make $20 million per year, and Suh's not taking less than $15 million wherever he goes. Suh has already made a small fortune from his rookie contract. Plus he's from Portland. Maybe he is cool with taking less to play for Seattle. I'm just hooking here.

Lynch is already under contract so all they really need to do is add some money. Wilson's extension wouldn't kick in until next year. Same for Wagner. Maybe it would be possible to sign Suh and keep Lynch for one more season. I think it's all a pipe dream though. Suh is the best free agent available and will command huge money. Not saying that players should take pay cuts, but there's more to be considered by a player than taking the most money possible. It's rarely cut and dried.
Another more rumored Seahawk target though is Larry Fitzgerald and whether or not the Cardinals can retain him or not:
In 2015, Fitz has a $23.6M cap hit with $14.4M of dead money on the cap if he's released - they would save $9.2M versus the cap if he's released.
In 2016, Fitz has a $17.6M cap hit with $7.6M of dead money against the cap.
In 2017, Fitz has an $18.3M cap hit with $4M of dead money against the cap.
The Cardinals would appear to be right on the edge of the cap as it is right now without making any adjustments to their roster. They already have other strong WR options in Michael Floyd and John Brown. Hard to see them retaining Fitz at this point.
Will be interesting to see what Fitz would sign for in free agency. -

Hawks could cut Mebane & Williams and that would give them roughly $7.5M right there. The emergence of Jordan Hill makes it easier to cut Mebane if they want.

Looking through the free agents, there are a lot of good ones that wouldn't break the bank. I think getting another pass rusher is crucial. Jason Pierre-Paul and/or Greg Hardy would be huge moves and both would be cheaper than Suh. Maybe Hardy could be had for somewhat cheap because of his off the field issues?
