I hate that cunt Clay Matthews too but as Gladstone said I hope Wagner does it to Brady and ends his career in the Super Bowl.

Pack fan here. It was a cheap shot. it looked like he was head huntin. Things move fast out there though. I think he was just trying to blow him up, like you would any player on the return team when you have the chance. One of Our D lineman had him engaged already. But Matthews had him lined up way before then. If you're gonna try to be a defender on returns, that's what happens.
But two things.
If it was Aaron Rodgers out there trying to pursue the ball carrier, one if not more of the Hawks would have destroyed him.
And if I was in your shoes during that reverse scenario, with Arod getting blown up, I would have felt the same way as you.
Cm3 doesn't have a lot of dirty plays on tape through his career. There were also 2 other blow ups on the same play. It's the nature of a INT play when the returner cuts back.
But take heart, the 4th interceptor mistook the 5 minute mark for the 1 minute mark and laid down, like he won the game.
I Had a strong feeling the Pack were fucked when they kicked 2 FG's in the 1st quarter instead of playing to win. Felt the same way at the half. But when Burnett laid down on that INT with 5 minutes left, I knew the goose was cooked.
Congrats to the real Hawks fans on the victory. -
Clay Matthews would make a damn good Seahawk

It's a good thing Matthews lowered his helmet and missed making a bigger hit.

I'm all for leveling punishing hits on any and all players who set foot on the field, including QBs, kickers, holders, etc. If you don't want to take a tee shot, you shouldn't be out there.
But this hit was from the blindside. On an engaged player. And helmet-to-helmet. Should result in an ejection and fine. If the League weren't preoccupied with players' shoes. -
Special protection against blows delivered to the head by an opponent is also provided to a receiver who has just completed a catch, a kicker/punter during the kick or during the return, and to the recipient of a "blindside" block.
The rules.
Receiver Catching or Attempting to Catch a Pass
1. Receiver Who Has Completed a Catch. If a receiver has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself, a defensive player is prohibited from launching (springing forward and upward) into him in a way that causes the defensive player's helmet, facemask, shoulder, or forearm to forcibly strike the receiver's head, neck, or face-even if the initial contact of the defender's helmet, facemask, shoulder, or forearm is lower than the receiver's neck.
2. Kicker/Punter During Kick or Return. During a kick or during a return, it is a foul if the initial force of the contact by a defender's helmet (including facemask), forearm, or shoulder is to the head or neck area of a kicker/punter.
3. "Blindside" Block. It is an illegal "blindside" block if the initial force of the contact by a blocker's helmet (including facemask), forearm, or shoulder is to the head or neck area of an opponent when the blocker is moving toward his own endline and approaches his opponent from behind or from the side. -
It was fucking dirty. Hooks defenders may cut a QB in half in similar situations but I do not believe they go after the head.

It was officiated correctly according to the NFL rules.TTJ said:I'm all for leveling punishing hits on any and all players who set foot on the field, including QBs, kickers, holders, etc. If you don't want to take a tee shot, you shouldn't be out there.

I agree that it should be an ejection, but the NFL doesn't really care about player safety. -
We cheered when Golden Tate lit up Dallas with a blind side block but boo when someone does it to Seattle?
