Disagree on Money not being an issue: usatoday.com/sports/college/schools/finances/

Alabama takes in nearly double what UW or UCLA do, and they are probably involved in less sports. I'm not AD operations superiority guy, but making double the revenue, with less sports in a lower COL environment - how can that not be an advantage?

Agree @Ballsacked. You only have to look at the situation at WSU. Revenue of $45MM and an operating loss of $13MM. They have certainly spent beyond their means, but they have to keep up.

It does beg the question. If Alabama can generate that kind of revenue, why can't UW?

    Has to be donations.

TV revenue and ticket sales don't account for a difference of 60 - to 70M dollars. Or even look at Oregon - they are almost 40M (50%) clear of UW. That's the uncle Phil Advantage right there.

Both UCLA and UW went into the crapper when the arms-race kicked off around the start of the BCS era, I bet the donor bases at both schools are beaten down And need major reinvigoration.

Are you implying the UW should de-emphasize non revenue/women's sports?

In bull dyke liberal Seattle? Uh....no. Never gonna happen.

Mike Lude was run out by Gerberding IIRC (IDK, I was in the fifth or sixth grade or something). He was the last a.d. to get it.

I can't fucking stand Title 9 and I am a liberal, but it will never go away due to politics.

The idea I had was to somehow make fball and basketball exempt from Title 9. The rest of the sports can split the revenue. I have no idea how that would work and it's probably not politically feasible with the baby carrying, pussy whipped panty wastes of Seattle and many progressive cities.

Politically Feasible? It's not financially feasible. What revenues do you think those sports generate?

From what I understand, Football is profitable, basketball much less profitable, everything else bleeds red ink.

We could be never win another game (or match) in volleyball, soccer, crew, tennis, golf, baseball, and women's basketball and I wouldn't give a shit. Only football matters. Men's basketball is a distant 2nd.

To me, this is usually the stuff that non-alums think. I went to the UW, so I'm not *just* a fan of football. I want us to be good at everything.

I don't care nearly as much about the other things, but they are like the biology department: I want it to be great, even if I don't necessarily want to talk about it on message boards.
Bullshit. I would feel the same if I was an alum.
I'm not surprised because you are more than slightly autistic about football.

    Don't forget basketball.
I prefer to continue the conversation about hot volleyball ass.

I'm all in for a "full" ass, as long as the rest is commensurate. In this case, that's just a fat ass. But upvoted for trying to get the thread back to what's important.
Even if it is just a fat ass (which its not, look at them thighs mmm) - what is wrong with that?

Split the revenue from the revenue sports...it was implied...
