Saw reported by tbs expert Lars Hanson that Petersen has never fired an assistant coach.

You don't have to fire anyone when you go 92-12AtomicDawg said:Saw reported by tbs expert Lars Hanson that Petersen has never fired an assistant coach.

Sometimes I guess you fire people without really firing them. See Saban and nuss.TierbsHsotBoobs said:

Every position group on our offense sucks. I have no hope. Our offensive staff should all be on the chopping block. Smiph was in way over his head. Petersen let this happen. I am wondering if he needs someone that will push back on his suggestions but there is nobody there to do it right now.

I said earlier this year that he's at the late 80's Don James part of his career. The offense is stale. Petersen switched from a motion and shift based pro style with Moore to the pistol with Southwick to what we do now. I don't even know how to classify our offense. We run no huddle, but don't play with tempo. Even when we were down two scores, there wasn't ton of urgency to get going fast. We have seen the same thing in other games, most notably UCLA.AtomicDawg said:Every position group on our offense sucks. I have no hope. Our offensive staff should all be on the chopping block. From my armchair I wish we made things simpler. There is no point in having a complicated offense in college football, especially with a QB like Miles. Give Miley two reads. Those guys not open, take off. Emphasize making quick decisions. Make it simple on a brain locked QB. Every game we saw him puzzled, not trusting where to go with the ball, taking sacks, taking off the run too late, etc.
Even if I'm off base, all I know is the offense needs to be fixed and can. Other schools make changes and improve quickly. Hopefully Browning can be the QB Petersen wants, but that isn't a guarantee. It might take more Spring and Fall camp for Browning to develop into that guy. You have to adapt and do the best with what you have. I don't think that happened this year. -
I don't think they have a clue how to incorporate running the qb into the offense.
I also think our players run east and west way more than previous years. I put that on coaches. Kasen Williams brought up he thought that they were just way too conservative the whole year. I get that to an extent but I really think it was a challenge to throw an out route with cylers arm.
Our tailback situation is not good either.
Cooper is not very physical.
Washington is a strider but does not have quick feet and maybe the worst vision f any tailback. I have seen others like him before turn out good so there is hope with him I guess but he cannot grind out consistent 5 yard runs. He also blows in pass pro and catching the football. I think they really moved him to tailback because he can't catch.
Coleman seems to understand where to run to but is a step slow and is really an I back playing in the spread.
I think this team needs help from an outside source on offense but I don't know who that would be. -
Couldn't agree more with your first point. Petersen even talked about wanting Miles to stick in the pocket whereas Miles wanted to take off. What ended up happening, was a QB overthinking. Poor arm strength and indecision is not a good combo.AtomicDawg said:I don't think they have a clue how to incorporate running the qb into the offense.

I agree about RB's. I get caught up by Washington's long runs, but he's not a consistent chain mover. The good news is this should be pretty easy to fix in recruiting. Getting Warren with Gaskin would really help. Get more capable backs and let the cream rise.
Scheme wise, I think Petersen dipped his toe into the fad, no-huddle and pistol stuff while wanting to keep some of his old stuff. It will be interesting to see what happens this offseason. -

as long as the kids are having a good college experience, then we know the UW considers football a success.
-
Hopefully this was the rough transition year we had to suffer through. I actually do believe that. If it's not, there's no hope.

I have to believe this was a transition year.
Washington had the second most rushing yards in the PAC, right behind ... Oregon. 4th in YPA with 4.4.
The Hippie Stoner looking for pot at the state fair only threw three interceptions.
The real problem was the passing game.
There was no offensive identity because there was no offensive motor. Peterman worked to protect the ball and hope his defense would win the day. Against shitty teams it worked ... against good teams ... not so much.
Summed up ...
If you are going to rate a team on wins and losses ... you're a fucktard. -
I'm curious to see what happens with us and Texas. They had a horrendous first year under charlie strong with a similar purge and culture shift from hang loose to nut the fuck up. The only thing left to hold our hat on is big time programs that always have talent like bama and SC had shit records their first year under hall of fame coaches.
That's all we got left. -
I might buy that if we didn't see so many red flags with the roster next season. Offensive line was neglected for years in recruiting before Petersen got here and may look worse next year.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:Hopefully this was the rough transition year we had to suffer through. I am fine with the potential starters next year on the defensive line but given who we are losing how do we not see that as a big drop off?
I see another sub 500 conference record. Barring a miraculous improvement in the offense.

Wins and losses aren't important? Wtf man. How else do you judge a team?topdawgnc said:I have to believe this was a transition year.

I think the point is who cares if we had won anywhere from 6-9 games this season? Either way it was a failure.topdawgnc said:

I think the D absolutely hates the offense, you could sense them quitting after the first 5 million 3 and outs.
Hire a real OC, make Jsmith your QB coach if you need continuity. The fact we have a TE coach and no QB coach is baffling. -

We rarely use tight ends. I don't know why we have a coach for that position. I would prefer a coach for the safeties myself.brchco12 said:I think the D absolutely hates the offense, you could sense them quitting after the first 5 million 3 and outs.

Very similar first years. Punchless offense, talented defense, new coaches with similar temperaments, and titanic sized QB problems. Having seen both teams I think Doogs > Hoorns in 2014.Doogles said:I'm curious to see what happens with us and Texas. Texas OL was dreck because Strong kicked everyone out preseason, they all return and should be better. How will UWs OL be in 2015? Seems like a major hurdle to clear.
Also Texas redshirted the #2 QB in 2014 TBS rankings, UW redshirted a less esteemed prospect. Rankings be damned but you would think they are better positioned to get away from their QB retard than UW.
Also one team will likely have Chris Warren. Either way, it'll be interesting.

Maybe it's just Doogin' but I fail to see how this years starters Atoe...for example Is better than next years players with more experience under This new staff.
