Earl Thomas

How gnarly would it have been if he snapped his arm?
-
One of the best plays, ever. The guy just never quits... always running full speed to the ball carrier.
-
It reminded me of that World Series play from the late 90s where the throw from the outfield to the plate was off target and Derek Jeter swooped in to snare the ball and flip it to the catcher for the out.
-
Earl even knocks the ball into the end zone and out of bounds. No idea if he meant too but it's bad ass.
-
Best in the league.

Great player. Probably the best safety in the league. He's one of my least favorite Seahawks. I'm not really feeling the new persona of non stop mugging for the cameras.
-
What
-
I like Kam, Sherman, Lynch, Wagner, and Bennett better. I enjoyed Earl more when he wasn't trying to be known as the most intense player in the league.

Voted down for tainting a great play by mentioning baseball.DerekJohnson said:It reminded me of that World Series play from the late 90s where the throw from the outfield to the plate was off target and Derek Jeter swooped in to snare the ball and flip it to the catcher for the out.

Smart play.
Surprising. -
If he would have came into the league doing it, it would be different. Lynch has been clowning since day one. Same with Sherman. Sherm is the shit talker, Kam's the enforcer, and Earl is trying really hard to be known as the crazy, intense one.ThomasFremont said:

I'm not buying it and think it's kind of corny. I still like him as a player, not sure what the big deal is. Most people have their favorites. -

I don't care if he burns an American flag after every tackle. -
Earl has always been cocky as fuck. His mannerisms haven't changed much since he has gotten into the league. Dude can back up his attitude.
-
You think he's pressing? The guy sleeps on the locker room floor the night before home games. I don't believe there's anything fake about his manic persona.RoadDawg55 said:

Alright, I stand corrected. He really sleeps on the locker room floor? That is kind of what I am talking about. To each their own. I don't remember him playing it up so much his first few years in the league. When he cut his hair he said it was because it was time to be serious and that was maybe where it began. I saw it a little last year, but this season it has been really evident.DerekJohnson said:

I like Earl Thomas. He's a great safety and I would be pissed if he wasn't a Seahawk. I'm more entertained by other players though. -
As a non-Seahawks fan I'll say this, the guy is a fucking beast. That was an amazing play.

I can vouch that Nacho hates the Seahawks.CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:As a non-Seahawks fan I'll say this, the guy is a fucking king beast

But how is he better than Taylor Mays??????
-
I wonder if Mays is still butthurt about Earl getting picked over him? I had a college buddy who went to O'Dea who nailed the Mays evaluation. He was friends with Mays too, but said he was stiff and really overrated at USC.SpoonieLuv said:But how is he better than Taylor Mays??????

I haven't noticed him doing that, maybe he did it once, and I saw 11 games this year, plus some preseason.RoadDawg55 said:Great player. Probably the best safety in the league. He's one of my least favorite Seahawks. I'm not really feeling the new persona of non stop mugging for the cameras.
He's a real gym rat like others have alluded too.
There's a funny web commercial with an aftershave robot interviewing him (not going to give the product FREE PUB though). Most of you can figure it out. His greedy agent might be in his ear about mugging for the camera and building his "brand" ($75k). I just haven't noticed it much. -

To his credit, I believe Mr. Chris Fetters had Mays pegged as overrated.RoadDawg55 said:

Except Mays wasn't overrated at all as a college football recruit. Mays had an incredible college career. And Fetters argument wasn't just that he was overrated, it was that he was *soft*. And of course he never said Mays was soft until after Mays committed to USC. And he was of course just spewing the company line being fed to him by the Bellevue "insider" Montlake, who ripped Mays in order to hype some shitty undersized white safety from Bellevue who went on to do nothing in college.DerekJohnson said:

Taylor Mays was a major loss for UW. He was 10x better than any safety UW had during the same time period. Not being a great pro doesn't mean he wasn't worth the hype going into college.
I remember it really well because the Taylor Mays thing was one of the first things that really exposed Fetters as a worthless recruiting analyst to me. I wanted Mays to be good at SC just so Fetters could be wrong. And he was. -
Ironic that Fetters would call someone soft.dnc said:

Joking aside, your poast (hardy har har) is spot on. -
My moment when I realized Fetters was an idiot was in 2005 or 2006. Some poster asked who the best player he saw was. Was it Jonathon Stewart, EJ Savanah, Hasty, Locker, Taylor Mays?
Fetters names some kid playing 1A football who played QB, RB, MLB, Safety, DE, and he punted, kicked, and returned kicks. So posters ask where he's going and Fetters says Central has sniffed around. -

Like people who talk about how much they remember Largent's hit onSmithAtwaterBraxtonHarden.
And the Yankees do not get the out of Giambi slides.
