What in the hell are they teaching the kids at the University of Washington?

The professor who is teaching this class should be fired immediately.

Pretty sure I took that class 2 years ago... Never went after the first day, most ridiculous shit I have ever seen.

Information on that slide is concerning, but I think you're giving the professor too much credit....
Entry level course material is prepared by indentured servants of research academia.... Grad students. Same for labs.
Profs will take over the material in the 3XX/4XX range... -
But how does that make him a bad professor?

I live in a rape culture!!!11!

Welcome to Obama's America...

it looks like they are teaching the kids at the University of Washington about systems of oppression, Derek.

It's the system man!

It reminds of a time in 2004 or 2005 when I was down in the media area next to Hec Ed Pavilion. I had just completed an interview and was shooting the breeze with a starter on the UW football team, a really nice kid. He was telling me about some of his courses. I wish I could remember the specific course, but he said "I never realized just how much the black man is continuing to be oppressed by society until I took this class."

American Ethnic studies for $200, Alex

Maybe the professor is trying to incite discussion. Maybe this is a student presentation. Maybe this is a presentation on biased perspectives. Taking this image at face value without any context may or may not be representative of what is going on...

Is the intent of it to spur discussion and debate?
It's nothing new though, 15 years ago in my first semester/quarter/whatever as a freshman had a Grad Assistant teaching some writing class and she claimed NFL players were like slaves because they couldn't change jobs in a different city. (This may have even been the first class of the quarter). I immediately got after her for the ridiculousness of the statement cause somehow all those players were forced to play football and weren't compensated for it. Dumb fuck. -
The only real problem I see is the definition of capitalism is totally wrong and backwards. Capitalism is what actually helps lift the poor and middle class of society. Today people are fooled into thinking capitalism is what causes extreme inequality and poverty, when it is the most just and moral economic system.

Does white supremacy include hating Injuns? Are Injuns even considered people of color (red)?

Do white people shed a tear when someone litters on the interstate? Didn't think so.Swaye said:Does white supremacy include hating Injuns? Are Injuns even considered people of color (red)?

"Society is oversensitive and makes too much out of everything!!!!!! ... ... ... ...unless I'm offended, then I get righteous indignation, but THAT'S DIFFERENT!!"
For fuck's sake... this is pretty much this site's equivalent of the LPT going ham on the tweets of Husky players about being OKGs. -
I'm offended you're offended.

I took black studies back in the day and wrote a paper on how the real oppression in America is economic and they keep us down by dividing us because there is a lot of poor white folk too. Got a F so I went to Whitey sucks from then on and did a lot better

How did people who got up every day, went to school or into a trade, obeyed the law (mostly), then went to work, paid a shit load in taxes, respected and defended the rights of everyone, and raised kids who are also productive citizens become the assholes and the FUCKING PROBLEM?

with the exception of bullet #4, the other stuff is going to be presented, directly or indirectly, at any institution of higher learning not named Oral Roberts University or the like.
now, describing capitalism as a zero/sum, winner/loser game is ridiculous. that would NEVER happen at Middlebury.
listen, b4 you poast again on the academies, check in with me furst. I've got that shit wired the fuck down.
