That would be like thinking a state senator could become a United States Senator and then President in less than four years. -

Why should it be illegal for the Port to establish a minimum wage for people who work at the Port?
Sawant was not elected by a district. Seattle will not have City Council elections by district until 2015. -
She is a constituent of the Port Commissioners. She lives within the taxing district of the Port. So do her constituents. Are you saying only Port Commissioners can complain when they think people are interfering in Port business?PurpleBaze said:So, what is this Seattle City Council member cunt doing protesting Alaska Air? The airline doesn't technically operate out of the City of Seattle.

I just think she's an attention whore. She is trying to throw her weight around as a Seattle City Councilmember. This $15/hr. minimum wage platform is what she ran on, so she has to keep pushing it. She wasn't exactly protesting against the port. She was protesting against one airline, at their headquarters during business hours. The airline's headquarter building is not in her municipality.RavennaDawg said:

In a way I actually respect her for running as a socialist and sticking to her socialism. That's more than I can say for the rest of the snakes in Seattle City Council and the mayor, who ran as democrats but are about as socialist as her. -
She was protesting the lawsuit against the Port.
So if the lawsuit against the Port were coming from a business headquartered in Seattle, it would be ok?
And why should it be illegal for the Port to establish a minimum wage for people who work at the Port? -
If she really wants to protest the lawsuit against the port, she should fly to DC and protest the headquarters of Airlines for America (just don't do it during business hours). That whole organization filed the lawsuit. So, picking on one member of a multi-airline organization, regardless of whether they are in Seattle or not is a moot point.
As for the nature of the lawsuit, A4A is probably pissing into the wind. I'm not saying what they are doing is right, but they are looking at their bottom line and the long-term contracts they have signed with airport employees and other contract vendors. I guess they'll have to re-negotiate all the contracts.
Most airlines make about $12 profit per passenger. So, when the cost of doing business goes up at the port, they're going to try to fight it. At the end of the day, they'll raise prices and find other ways to nickel and dime the passengers. Everyone will piss and moan about airline ticket prices, cost of food & drinks at the airport, etc.
Anyway the people of Sea-Tac voted for the increase in minimum wage and the businesses operating within Sea-Tac are going to have to deal with it.
Doesn't stop me from thinking that Sawant is a stupid bitch with a grating voice that could wake the dead. -
I lost $1000 betting against this improbability. Not Weiser dollars, real dollars.topdawgnc said:
