Follow up to NFL draft question
I get that the QB class is thin but why do so many "experts" have Moore as the #1? I just don't think he can carry an NFL team who warrants a #1. I understand he's more athletic than Mendoza but given equally great lines, I'm taking Mendoza. He seems more accurate and seems to be a true leader. "They" say his arm strength isn't all world. I guess I haven't seen enough? Moore will help a less talented line with his mobility.

Both seem pretty good to me. It’s a crapshoot with QB’s. The ones we think are good struggle, the ones that seem like reaches are sometimes good. Other than a few QB’s, most are up and down. Lawrence, Caleb Williams, CJ Stroud, etc. All have had good seasons, but you also can’t really trust any of them to be good for a consistent amount of time.
Lately, QB’s have sucked with their first team or teams, and are much better at their next stop. Nobody thought Darnold and Baker Mayfield would be legitimate starters a few years ago.I do think Mendoza seems to have the mental make up to eventually thrive. I’ve started to come around on him.

Drake Maye, Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts still blow my mind that they're great/good NFL QB's. A case where the raw materials actually paid off. So many "athletic freaks" with big arms and big bodies have stalled out because they can't process the game quick enough. Lockner, J. Russell, the big guy in Indy, Blake Bortles, EJ Manuel. None of them could get it done and yet they all looked good on the hoof. The Alabama run of NFL guys always seemed like a risk because the talent around them was generally so superior in college. Young, Tua, McCarron and Jones all have been mid to bad in the NFL. Although Tua has flashed when he's not concussed and he has a stable of lightning fast receivers. You just never know. Brock Purdy is a good NFL QB and Mineshew has had a longer career than many, many top 20 picks. Needless to say my skills at packing a grocery bag super full haven't translated to picking NFL QB talent.

Hurts was a Trent Dilfer type SB winner last year. Insane talent all over the team. He's ok but the man threw for 0 yards in the second half of a game two weeks ago while fighting for playoff seeding. C'mon man.
Maye and Allen are actual good/great QBs. Their teams don't win if they don't play well.

I haven't seen enough of Maye but Allen is an athletic freak. He has size and strength and when he needed it, speed. But to your point, there have been several examples of that same athletic talent who didn't make it. Some didn't have the luxury of great OL's and WR's or TE's, but I think it also must come down to intelligence and reading defenses and making adjustments. That might be a little harder to assess just from watching? Moore does seem to have a bit of Mahomes in him and by that I mean his ability to make something out of a broken play. The "experts" like him over Mendoza. Full transparency here, I'm a suffering Raiders fan and am torn over who/what they should draft. They have a terrible OL (what happened to the Oregon guy they drafted) but maybe that's because Carroll's 2 sons are retarded? Maybe I don't want to admit Moore is the guy because OU? If I cant draft Mahomes or Allen, I say trade down and focus on the lines first. Draft a QB in the 4th round and suck again until you can draft a great one? Or do you take a chance on Moore and or Mendoza, draft as much line talent as you can behind him and fill in the blanks through free agency? None of it probably matters and the Raiders will suck as long as they are owned by Dumb and Dumber.

The Indiana - Oregon game will be huge for both QBs. Both teams have good pass rushes so how will the QBs do under duress the second time around? Both defenses also have had more than a week to prepare while adjusting their approaches from the earlier season game so the QBs should see new wrinkles.
If I'm an NFL GM at this point, I'm definitely favoring Mendoza over Moore because his performance against the better defenses doesn't really change while Moore's performance dips significantly. One could also argue that Moore has a better surrounding cast so that's a warning flag as well.

Well, I don't think there's going to be drafts where at least two teams don't take a QB in the first round, and early, and who else are you looking at if you're a team who needs a QB? I can't really think of any QBs I'd consider ahead of Mendoza or Moore and I've seen Moore comped as Maye or Herbert or Stroud, which seem fair.
There have been plenty of guys who have seemed questionable like these guys such as Maye and Josh Allen who end up being good despite having major questions as college QBs. Mahomes I remember being like huh when he was being talked about as a first round QB too.

I had hurts on my fantasy team. He recorded 2 turnovers on the same play. Threw an interception, the DB fumbled the ball, Hurts recovered it and then fumbled it.

Moore seems like a long way from being an NFL starter to me, but I felt the same way about Nix — although he played a shit-ton more than Moore has in college.
If he's really seen as one of the top two or three QBs in the draft, then Moore needs to bolt. But he'll likely end up as another New York Jet type failure, unless he gets lucky and finds himself on a team that isn't overly shitty.

Some argue that that is precisely the case with Mendoza. I myself am not going to go back and figure it out because I don't care. But here is what one source points out:
I will say this about Moore. He seems to get banged up more, whereas Mendoza takes Howitzer shots and keeps getting up with typical Cuban toughness. We're? built different.
On the other hand, I've seen Moore make throws that few QBs can make. That 4th down throw on the road at Iowa was not only clutch but as dime as dimes get. Maybe Mendoza has a collection of those. IDK.
