What sucks is that UW, due to so many multi multi millionaires and some billionaires, should have much more NIL money than Georgia.

Even though he didn't go to UW, Gates would be forever appreciated if he donated $50 million to UW. Heck, same for Jodi Allen (she went to Whitman I think).

Sadly, this is true. It’s really hard to get invested in a team when guys can bail for a bag every year. At least in the NFL, you know when guys’ contracts are up, they get cut because they suck, or they get traded because your team sucks.

The sad part is how fast it flipped. Most people who are college football fans were in it because it was mercenary than the NFL and almost overnight it somehow became worse. There was some weird internet thing of trying to cancel calling things slippery slopes but this turned out to be one.

One of the worst things is the vast majority of college fans are pretty reasonable and don't think players shouldn't be compensated or stuck in a place where they are not going to play but no middle grounds seem to be found here.

Well so far Mohammed is the only projected 2026 starter looking for a bigger bag. One could argue that Butler and RVB were penciled in as starters but Mohammed was a definitely starter. I guess I'm trying to say it could be a lot worse (such as the bloody January of 2025 when DeBoer left).

What if the money that was going to go to Butler now goes to Thompson? I'd prefer Thompson to come back because he would be starting at 3-tech next to Davis at 1-tech / NT. Thompson signaled he was leaving but that may have been before the staff knew Butler was going to enter the portal. The roster currently has more body types similar to Butler (Armon Parker, Kahn, Macon, the 4 star DT from Colorado who could get snaps as a true frosh) than it does guys similar to Thompson (Jayvon Parker, Caleb Smith).

And what if the money that was going to go to RVB instead goes to keeping Boston around another year or to a stud senior WR?

And what if the money that was allocated for Mohammed goes towards a stud EDGE that helps transform the defense further? While I'm bullish on Devin Hyde and hope Ward / Davis can be mostly or fully healthy for 2026, it would make me feel a lot better if a stud JR came in.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that right now, it's easy to focus on the guys who are likely leaving but we don't know yet who will be coming.

I’m definitely not all doom and gloom over who is doing what. It’s just frustrating when a guy like Machmuhahamedd is right on the edge of putting his time in and getting significant playing time next season to just decide to bail on his teammates. Maybe there is a lot more to the story than him just wanting more money.

This is the whole reason I can’t go out and get a flat bill and some baggy ass 12 Jersey and do the NFL shit, it’s hard to support business football and get invested in players when they don’t give a shit who they play for.

There is more smoke regarding Mohammed not wanting to be at UW for some reason and Georgia being his preferred destination. My guess is that Coleman decided to come back, other schools then reached out but Mohammed had already signed his sophomore year NIL deal (or maybe his NIL deal was a 2 year deal covering both frosh and soph years).

I have great faith in Scottie Graham as he is a great recruiter and great identifier of talent.

Yeah, they went zero to 100 without realizing 60 was an option.

I find it hard to believe uga has watched Mohammed and said that is the guy we need to target. I very well could be wrong but they can get freshmen better than him let alone transfers.

Yeah maybe it's from his handlers?

They have this guy who will be a true JR next year:

In the NFL, as a fan you more or less find yourself 1) as a fan of a team (players come and go and you don't get too attached), 2) fan of particular players and thus their teams (team is secondary) or 3) you just want to watch football at its highest level and that's that.

College football is obviously moving in the same direction.

The unfortunate part is that what used to separate CFB from the NFL was that you could combine rooting for a team and player.

Now, it's almost impossible to root for the players first and maintain a level of sanity that isn't overrode by being jaded
