From my source, we had a $7m offer on the table for Deboer basically from September through the natty. We only offered $9.5m during the week of panic. The $9.5m offer was to save face basically.

Yes. They threw in that late offer so they could say they offered it. They knew it was too late. Had they offered $9.5m after the Oregon game things very well could have been different. The timing of all this matters.
