Most liked Penix, just didn't think he could get through a season healthy. UW looks like we might catch a break for once to be the small sliver of his career where he actually did it.
That team isn't quite what it was with a different QB, but it would have at least been really good with any remotely decent QB. The offense was stacked.

I don't think they get to the natty with another moderately decent QB. Penix was a fucking assassin. 50% of the straw that stirred the drink, at least.

He was a great leader too. None of the WR’s or the OL had done anything of note before he and Deboer got there. A lot of that wasn’t their fault because they were coached by Jimmy Lake and John Donovan, but still.
