good show, really surprising the industry talent that shows up and plays in the tribute to the people being honored… the sound quality and production values were awesome, far better that the Grammy award shows -

good writeup from Rolling Stone describing the event and performances… for me, one of the highlights was listening and watching the now ancient but still vibrant Elton John sing / perform the Brian Wilson song god only knows in memory of his recently deceased friend…

What fren was inducted?
-
Thom Bell, the guy that wrote the songs and directed the production values / sang vocals for the delphonics, spinners and stylistics…
The father of the Philly sound, brilliant composer, arranger, sound producer, worked with a lot of cool musicians.
His signature orchestral arrangements created magic and timeless hits for the likes of the
Delfonics, the Stylistics, the Spinners, the O'Jays, Johnny Mathis, Dionne Warwick, Elton John and James Ingram, Jerry Butler, Archie Bell & the Drells, Jerry Bell and Dusty Springfield

Yah, Yella, he was from Jamaica, classically trained and was on the east coast ~ his wife had asthma so they moved to Seattle and he had a studio at Kay Smith and worked with some Northwest talent, while working with talent around the world, worked in LA ~ all over really. He was a super strong composer and knew how to control all aspects of production to achieve the desired effect for the artist so he was Valued. Eventually remarried another gal and moved North from Seattle where they hand a lavender farm.
