How was our S&P+ today?

”We can just play football now”
“We are bowl eligible and those extra practices are valuable”
“We just couldn’t get anything going on offense today, for various reasons”

Don’t forget the inevitable, “tough conditions”.

Just like post game shows — always WAY better when shit's awful.

We need Jed to take a punch at some schmuck vs Purdue, it’s our only hope.

Call Eck right this fucking second.

That's always my take. Coach hiring is a crapshoot. Never know where lighting will strike. Person, time and circumstance. Say it again.
Good coaches will consistently make teams better. But there's a reason everyone is in awe of Urbs doing it at a high level at three places. Super rare.

Let's be clear Roady …
I don't give 2 shits about Jedd as a coach as to whether he's the guy or not … about the only thing that I'd say is that he's probably got better odds than whoever the next guy is
The issue today isn't about the coach … it's about the roster
When you've had 4 coaches in 6 years and you're looking at potentially having 5 in 7 years that's an absolute train wreck for roster stability and what that looks like going forward
My motivation has always been about not having the roster gutted
-
In all seriousness I'm not sure if we can do much better as he's got as good of a chance as any at emerging from a rebuild in a good spot
I think people will likely be very underwhelmed at what is available if/when Jedd leaves

Haven’t poasted here for many months. But it’s good to see that Tequillas posts still age like hot mayonnaise.

The truth is, there is really no basis for guessing that Fisch's odds of succeeding are better than the next guy's. None of us really knows and there is only 'kind of' a formula, that being the guy who's won a lot at a lesser program, and even that one misses as often as it hits.
And it's always about the coach at least as much as it's about the roster with a few very, very narrow and rare exceptions.
And the roster stability thing is out the window with the new system.
I agree with you on one thing: you need a war chest in this game along with enthusiastic support from the admin.
I don't know if Fisch should be fired or not. I get paid to make other calls. But if he's not the guy, you don't string it along to salvage the roster.
-
Let's play some hypotheticals here …
It probably doesn't matter if Fisch leaves after this year by choice or not … you're going to lose the balance of the roster regardless
I'll even agree with you that retaining a coach that you know isn't the guy is not a good long term strategy … see Penn State
But what I do think that you can agree with me on is that IF you lose the balance of your roster you need to be realizing that there is a heavy likelihood of at least a 2-3 year rebuild ahead
So if in Year 1 of the next coach that you go 3-9, I don't want to hear people already claiming that this coach isn't the guy when the roster isn't there …
And I don't want to hear in Year 2 if that coach goes 5-7 or 6-6 that he's clearly not the guy …
At some point you need to get out of the cycle of having coaches for a max of 2 years …
We're already at 4 coaches from 2019 forward (CP, Lake, DeBoer, Fisch) … if/when Fisch leaves we'll be at 5 coaches (not counting an interim coach) in less than 10 years. That's horrific

A good coach, wandering eyes or not, doesn’t lose this game today. The defense was fine, good even. It was Judds offense that was an abortion. Also, UW has had awful special teams for two years with two different coordinators. What’s the common denominator?
