They beat him twice this season.
That's not necessarily good news though. Could be time for regression.

”Next Man Up” is a nice phrase that fits on a beer glass, but I’m not betting on them if Woo is out. He’s that fucking good.
EDIT: The staff got them here, I’d match them up 1-5 with any other, but Woo is a 1+, with Castillo, Gilbert and George all 1s. Woo can go toe to toe with anyone they face. -
the M’s have a tough choice to make ~ who to start in game 4, and the series might turn on the decision. Go on 4 days rest for games 4 & potentially 5 or start their #5 and hope to live through it. I’m guessing they will pitch George with Miller as the potential fill in

Here is what AI says regarding Kirby on 4 days rest:
Yes, George Kirby can pitch on four days' rest, and his performance off such a short rest has been strong, with six out of seven starts being quality starts, though the Mariners' strategy might use him differently in the 2025 playoffs with potential for shorter outings. Evidence of Capability:
- Strong Recent Performance: In the 2025 season, Kirby had only one poor start off four days' rest, with his other six outings being quality starts.
- Strategic Use in Playoffs: The Mariners planned to have Kirby available for Game 4 of the playoffs, not necessarily as a starter throwing a full workload, but as an option to throw innings if needed.

So a key player skipped the trip because his wife is giving birth? That is unfathomable to me. I get it in most jobs these days because most employers offer it. Why not.
But this is sports. I always roll my eyes whenever someone is "going to leave even if they are on the 72nd hole of the Masters with the lead"
You did your part as a sperm donor. Take the W

Back with the team. Didn't read in to see if the kid was born.
He has been dog shit through the first two games. No hits and a critical error to help Detroit tie game two. Hopefully she had the baby and he pulls his head out.

Possibly the answer to questions about pitching...

never mind my previous stupid post about game 4, I miscounted the number of days between starts, no way are they starting George on 3 days rest, but both game 1&2 starters are available for game 5 for both teams

Chuck Knox wrote about that in his autobiography. Someone would rush up to him at practice to tell him Shirley was going into labor. He would keep coaching the team and get periodic updates. I believe he said as long as the wife and child were healthy and doing okay, he had a job to do to support them and would keep doing it. When work was done he would go get cleaned up and hurry to the hospital. He didn't understand the new trend of leaving work to attend the birth.

I would go with Castillo.
