Week 1 over reaction thread

Jay Norvell and Ryan Walters coached together at Oklahomo and Norvell had an offseason to cook up that game plan. My hope is that’s why the D got so worked and RW will make the adjustments. He has lauded the talent depth he has.
Probably just cope☝️ but who knows.🤷♂️
-
Norvell is a good coach so it's not just a cope. RW also made adjustments at intermission and the D was better in the 2nd half.
A cope would would be extrapolating Devin Hyde looking pretty good in limited snaps against CSU to then abusing Ohio State's OTs in 3 1/2 weeks.
-
One loss Bammer getting in over Florida State was an injustice and travesty.
Saturday's gayme doesn't make up for it, but the SEC can't cheat anymore so yes, it might be curtains. It was nothing special before the late 2000s. It was basically Saban and Rural Meyer.
-
Have zero expectations against Ohio State. Could try to talk myself into maybe if their QB situation is a meltdown we can make it like the 2007 USC game or 2012 Stanford game or something, but I don't know why they wouldn't just be able to run the ball all they want.
-
My cope is that Ohio State might be in for a big surprise at how rough it is to play in a sold out Husky Stadium
-
What if half that sell out is Ohio State fans? I guess there have been decent environments with a shit ton of Michigan Oregon and Coug fans in recent years.
Speaking of 2007, the 2007 game against Ohio State might not be a bad comparison. They were limited at QB - we had a second year QB who could run and it and we kept it a game for a while. Wouldn't be shocked if the offensive plan is the same to tell Demond to just run to the edge if something isn't there quickly.

- Williams/Coleman/Boston is a nice three headed monster but I’m not sure what’s there for complimentary pieces. Williams has to stay healthy obviously and Mohammed needs touches. Lines are very suspect.
- This is probably Oregon’s most talented team top to bottom in Lanning’s 4 years. Lots of dudes to keep happy with touches/targets.
- Coog and Beev are awful
- Penn St and tOSU are good but not overwhelming like last year, at least the latter.
- SEC is down. Bama looked slow and soft. LSU is meh. Maybe Georgia is waiting in the tall grass as a title contender. I don’t trust Auburn or Ole Miss. I guess we’ll see.
- Iowa offense is still Iowa offense and I’m also not in on Illinois.
- Utah and BYU might be the class of the Big12 with ASU
THANK YOU for attending my Ted Talk.
-
For the 200th Tim, we are not losing to OSU!
They are playing with fire coming up here. If they F’ up a possession or two early in the game and allow us to take any kind of a lead, the NS upper deck will reign down thunder seldom seen or heard
-
sayin and OSU didnt look great
-
tOSU still has dudes everywhere and should control the LOS.
-
This is a doog take, but so did Michigan last year on the lines, and UW actually looked halfway decent at the LOS in that game with the homefield advantage.
They then went on to maul Ohio State
-
I'd also add that Rahshawn Clark flashed a couple times in this game. The hometown player could end up being a good one, hope he sticks around.
-
I agree Oregon looked talented. Then again, they've always looked big and fast.
Lanning likes to send the house against inferior teams and they generally do overwhelm these kind of opponents. He sent pretty much every player against all of their punts and he blitzed like crazy all game.
I won't be sold on Oregon until I see Dante Moore against a defense with a pulse who can fuck with his eyes and pressure him. He folded like a chair as soon as conference play started up the last go around.
I won't be sold on Oregon until you see them matched up with a team that they can't intimidate so quickly. They don't don't take getting punched in the mouth very well… never have. -
Sayin still probably looked better against a legit team than what Michigan had at QB. They legit had can't complete a forward pass level problems at QB, and they didn't have Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate at WR and whatever probably blue chip guys Ohio State has behind them.
It's still pretty insane with how good Michigan was at certain spots that we not only beat them, but by double digits.
-
By the way, no one asked for any of you fucks' Oregon takes. Put away the KY and Kleenex after an FCS game
-
I don’t think anyone’s hanging any banners(we do that in June typically). That said it is very obvious that Oregon is 2 level talented at just about all positions. Montana St is Montana St but there isn’t that big of a gulf between them and Colorado St, if at all.
UW will be better next year than in 2024. Maybe even good enough to win a road game.
HTH
-
I propose a $129 fee for the right to use the term "2 level talented"
-
Michigan is very poorly coached. Will only get worse every week they’re removed from Harbaugh. You’ll beat them again this year.
-
We are not beating Michigan this season, end of discussion. OSU and Oregon, yes.
-
If that struggle against Colorado St taught us anything it’s that UW is DEFINITELY beating Oregon this year.
-
Sayin was 13-20 with 4 good balls dropped. Two by Jeremiah Smith no less. Smith had 1 drop last year. All season.
We must have watched different games because I thought Sayin looked solid. Further, the OSU D was wicked stout.
They looked every bit the part of a CFP final 4 team.
-
- I'd say DeGraaf is a good complimentary piece and am looking forward to seeing Omari Evans (was he dinged up or was it a disciplinary thing)?
- I didn't watch the Oregon vs. Sisters Mary of the Poor, looks like they at least 4 RBs who could start for most B1G teams. Still, UW vs. UC Davis could have some people saying the same thing about UW (which wouldn't be true b/c of the 2023 team).
- Not much to say
- Ohio State doesn't have the veteran QB, the great RBs, and the overwhelming numbers at WR but their OL is still good and they have that Purdue TE. They don't have Chip Kelly and I'd like to see their D vs. a better QB and WRs. Texas used to have very good WRs and it didn't seem like they still have the dudes there.
- I bet Georgia is reloaded.
- Agreed.
- Probably agree
I didn't watch that much of the Michigan game but didn't think they looked that good, particularly on D. Their DL is nowhere near where it was in 2023 and most of 2024. Maybe it was an off-game. I'm also not sold on their DBs.
-
Georgia picked up Zechariah Branch from SC. I have a feeling we’ll see him dancing into the end zone in the natty game.
-
I’ve got my screenshot, bud
-
lol ok bud
-
The Chatch, I thought you had been killed off by The Terminator and left with The Refuge and were a 2 level talent in The Tug. It appears you have gotten all gowed with your brethren over the Bobcats and are ready to rumble again. I'll offer this. If you want to bury the Landen Hatchett this year when you're beloved Savannah Bananas shit play up here I'll tell you to meet me somewhere. I'll not show up, take a picture of you, and then point and laugh.
-
I would not be so confident about Oregon in Husky Stadium
Colorado State is much better than Montana State.
-
That's literally the opposite of what Oregon does against almost every team. They're incredibly conservative. Oh, it's BroadcastingDoog vomiting doog bullshit. Carry on. Also, Oregon isn't physical potd.
