Scientists Uncover New Concerns About Billion-Dollar Heart Drug

An investigation has uncovered evidence of significant misreporting, raising new concerns about the approval and long-term use of ticagrelor over the past decade.
In a follow-up investigation into the multibillion-dollar drug ticagrelor, The BMJ has identified new concerns, this time focusing on key platelet studies that supported the drug’s approval by the FDA.
For over ten years, ticagrelor (sold as Brilinta in the US and Brilique in Europe) has been recommended for patients with acute coronary syndrome, a group of conditions involving a sudden reduction in blood flow to the heart.
In December, The BMJ reported serious issues with data integrity in the landmark PLATO clinical trial, which played a central role in ticagrelor’s global approval. The findings raised doubts about the drug’s claimed benefits over less expensive alternatives.
Concerns resurface as generics enter the market
Now, with generic versions of the drug expected to launch this year, The BMJ has broadened its investigation to examine two key platelet studies that AstraZeneca cited as evidence of ticagrelor’s effectiveness in treating acute coronary syndrome.
It finds that the “primary endpoint” results (the trial’s key measurement) for both clinical trials were inaccurately reported in the leading cardiology journal Circulation, and reveals that more than 60 of 282 readings from platelet machines used in the trials were not present in US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) datasets.
What’s more, one active trial investigator never became a study author, while one author told The BMJ he was not involved in the trial, and most investigators, including the principal investigator, were unreachable or declined to be interviewed.
Expert criticism and lack of transparency
Victor Serebruany, an adjunct faculty member at Johns Hopkins University and ticagrelor’s most renowned critic, told The BMJ that “there are episodes of skyrocketing rebound and profound platelet inhibition after ticagrelor making patients prone to thrombosis or bleeding. If doctors had known what happened in these trials, they would never have started using ticagrelor.”
Circulation and AstraZeneca did not respond to a request for comment.
Nowadays, I get more entertainment out of the opposite situation. Some masculine, pro-America, super violent, huge tits video game collecting a cache of bloody egg "reviews" that give it a 6/10 and then proceed to cry for an entire page about why games/movies like this shouldn't exist and that we all need to go consume more Disney slop.
Remember the cowardly morons that supported this. Meanwhile, the summer of love in 2020 was excused because rioting was a necessary patriotic expression but watching fireworks certainly wasn't. Leftards are big on not looking back on their horrific mistakes and actually learning from them.
USAID: A bureaucratic pathogen that continues to sicken the nation.
One of the biggest targets of President Donald Trump’s administration has been the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). As we noted in a previous report, thousands of bureaucrats in that destructive agency are slated to be fired by this September.
“USAID” may truly be one of the most ironic names of all times. The magnitude of chaos and corruption it engaged in is still being assessed. It has literally harmed our country, especially in terms of America’s relationship with other nations.
There is one recent revelation that is truly astonishing. In an exclusive report, The Daily Caller reviews previously unreported documents show that USAID shipped nearly 11,000 viral samples to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China over a decade-long period, primarily through its PREDICT program.
The documents show that USAID funded the exportation of 11,000 samples from Yunnan Province, where some of the closest relatives of the COVID-19 virus circulate, to Wuhan, the epicenter of the pandemic, with no apparent plan for ensuring the samples were not misdirected to bioweapons and remained accessible to the U.S. government.
A $210 million USAID public health program called PREDICT, steered by the University of California-Davis, collected viral samples in countries throughout the globe but lacked long-term storage when funding dried up, according to rudimentary plans in 2019.
USAID’s sample dispensation plan for China is sparse: “No need [sic] information from Yunnan. They were never an official lab partner for PREDICT. All samples they helped collected [sic] are sent to, tested, and stored in Wuhan.”
USAID also directed millions to EcoHealth Alliance, which was one of the entities that partnered with the Chinese researchers at the laboratories in Wuhan, where the COVID virus now appears to have been created.
Those same programs also directed millions of dollars in grant funding to the New York-based non-profit EcoHealth Alliance and its subgrantee, the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV)—two organizations that feature prominently in investigations into the possibility that COVID-19 was an engineered virus that escaped from a lab.
EcoHealth Alliance, its now-former president Peter Daszak, and WIV were all debarred from receiving federal funding during the Biden administration for failing to abide by restrictions and transparency requirements related to virological experiments they were conducting in Wuhan—where the COVID-19 outbreak started.
Those experiments involved collecting SARS-like coronavirus viruses in the field, from both animal and human sources, and then manipulating them in at WIV.
USAID funneled $53 million to EcoHealth Alliance, which then used U.S. taxpayer funds to support gain-of-function research on coronaviruses at the Wuhan lab—research that likely led to the creation of COVID-19.

Of course, what was the cause of the cancer is another question…
